Oasis is a great ship, itinerary could be improved.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze. We had 11-11:30 timeframe, got there right about 11 and walked into the building. Stood in a short line for security, then checked in and we were headed to the ship in no time. Very fast and efficient.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food was tasty and fresh. Good options at the buffet, specialty restaurants have changed over the years, food is good but the experience is lacking. Solarium Bistro at night is the best kept secret-we love to go there for dinner.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Fitness center has a variety of machines for workouts, however quite a few of the treadmills weren't operable. Pool areas were overrun by kids and families, no chairs to be had on sea days but that's to be expected. Watched the belly flop contest and I'm glad RC is keeping that unlike Carnival. We participated in a few of the trivia and name that tune games.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We didn't see Cats, we've seen it before and wouldn't bother seeing it again. Aqua 80 is amazing, don't miss it. Phoenix the rock band was really good, high energy. Midnight Avenue, the "house band" was also very talented. Promenade musicians were also very good although a bit loud for the Promenade area. You couldn't have a conversation in any of the bars when they were playing. Other performers around like the illusionist were very good.
Children's Programs
We don't have children. I wish more kids participated in the kid's programs instead of running around unsupervised.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Overall this is a very friendly ship. Our room steward was fantastic, always greeting us by name and smiling. Did a great job keeping things tidy. Waiters bent over backwards to serve everyone in the specialty restaurants and buffet. (We never ate in the main dining room).
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Everything was clean and well maintained. The crew works hard to keep up with it all, bathrooms were clean, buffet tables kept cleared and wiped off, etc. These Oasis class ships are easy to get around and find what you're looking for.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We had a ocean view balcony, size in line with other ships and cruiselines for this type of cabin. There is a lack of drawer space, the two nightsands could have had drawers instead of open little shelves. There also needs to be another plug adapter with USB ports. Cabin was clean, no complaints there. We liked the fact that the bed was near the balcony door instead of close to the closet. We've had cabins where the bed is first next tot eh closet and that's a terrible design, makes it hard to get to the closet.
Ship tip
It's a large ship with lots to do. Don't try to do everything, and pack your patience for lines and crowds.
This is the point of embarkation so it's not a place you do excursions or a place to visit itself. As far as being the point of embarkation, it's an easy port to get to and avoids going into NY. We like sailing from Bayonne.
Why go to this port? Unless you get an excursion or an Uber to take you to the beach there's nothign you can do once you walk off the ship. Also, if you're going to stop here, then get there at like 7am and stay until 11pm so people going to Disney, Universal, and the Space Center have a full day. That would make some sense.
Coco Cay is beautiful but very crowded. The swim up bar and pool is neat, but way too many people. Hard to get a chair right by the pool where you can hear the DJ.
This port will be a lot better once they finish with construction on the new port facilities. Otherwise, it's not all that great of a place to walk around in. We started to take a self guided walking tour, but didn't feel all that safe so we turned around and headed back to the ship. But that's just us. If you're in a larger group you'd be fine.
Best disembarkation ever! Had to stand in a little line just to get off the ship but once you're in the terminal, you go directly to get your luggage, stop at the photo scanner, and you're out the door.
