Review summary

We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. I'm adding this here because I'm not sure where else to put it but chair hogs are a huge issue. Chairs claimed with a shoe or towel and left empty for hours. I saw a suggestion on one of the boards that perhaps providing cubbies for people to put their stuff in while they are in the pool might help with that.

Embarkation

quick, very smooth experience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I love any food that I don't have to cook. All the food was good, I tried a few things I ended up not liking, but that was personal taste. The only specialty restaurant we ate in was Portside BBQ. It was fantastic. We had two 3-meat platters for 6 people and still had leftovers! And we were all stuffed.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My kids did the rock climbing wall, ice skating, swimming, water slides, Abyss slide, we enjoyed them all. Lines were sometimes an issue, but there were a lot of people on the ship.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed the Aqua80 show. We went twice. The ventriloquist was very funny.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My son (15) enjoyed the teen club. Daughter (12) was not thrilled with Adventure Ocean. She spent most of her time hanging with her new friends on the water slides or at the pools.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was so friendly and willing to please. We had no issues that they were not able to resolve.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was clean, but the ship is starting to show some age. Nothing that took away from my experience, but it probably could use a freshening up of all the paint, etc.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had 4 people in the cabin. It was a tight fit, but we didn't spend much time just sitting in there. We enjoyed having the balcony for some extra space.

Ship tip

Don't try to do everything. You will wear yourself out! Pick the top things you want to do and focus on those.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

5 out of 5
I get that it's a port, but it was just the embarkation/debarkation point. We didn't do anything there.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Very fun. A relaxing day. I did not like the vendors constant hawking at us though. I would be more inclined to visit them if they backed off a bit.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

2 out of 5
The port itself it beautiful. I would have loved to have been able to explore more. But our docking time was 2-10 pm on a Tuesday. A lot of stuff (museums, etc.) were not even open on Tuesday.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
We took the water taxi to Great Bay Beach. We had a wonderful time. David from Nu Love Beach Bar got us set up with chairs and drinks. He was attentive and we had a great day.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
we didn't want to leave. the downside of the whole process was crowding people into the dining room while waiting for numbers to be called. I understand that we can't stay in the rooms, but spreading us out a bit more would have been a lot more comfortable.
