I wrote this out for a better understanding If you have any questions please call Bob or Sue Spaw at 734-591-7854. Boarding Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas from New Jersey October 24, 2021. At the Detroit, MI airport 5:30 AM. Flight depart 7:00. Land NJ 8:45. Get to RC port 9:30. Not allowed to get in line until 3:00 PM. Not in building until 3:45. Finally on board 4:30. Must do evacuation drill before we are allowed to go to room. Finally in room 4:49. TV not reset correctly. Still under old room occupants. Unable to use to obtain information. Tried to call for help but no one answered for quite some time. Try to book shows and events only to find out most are already booked. Found out at 6:00 that luckily our traveling companion booked three of them for us, but all at the end of the cruise. We waited on the dock for 6+ hours. We could stand under canopy or sit with no cover, once we found seats. No food or drink available. It became cloudy and cold so we put on all the coats we had. Then it started to rain. Not too much luckily, but It got things wet. Every 30min or so I would go for a run to warm up. The line ran around the building more than half way and continued to the gate by the water. There were a couple of RC employees moving up and down the line yelling at the people to get out of line if their time was not correct. Overall, very uncomfortable. It was obviously very unorganized and poorly planned. Why you would have someone get to the port at 9:30 and give us a 3:00 PM “get in line” time? It can only mean very little effort was made to align arrival times with embarkation times. Those of us arriving by air have little option as to when we arrive at the dock. We paid for your shuttle. Some effort should be made to coordinate the arrival time with the entrance time. If the expectation is to have customers be on the dock for long periods of time, you may want to provide some protection from the weather and a little food or at least access to water for the people. That would have really been appreciated. Once in the building there were not enough agents to accommodate the number of cruisers. We were told the ship was only half full. I can’t imagine how bad it will be when you have a full ship. I should tell you your regular cruisers did tell us that it has never been this bad. The crowds were certainly not keeping 6 feet apart. With that many people waiting it was nearly impossible. With the Covid Pandemic in play, it was not a very safe environment. This was our first time on Royal Caribbean and it was not a good first look. The reasons were embarkation and the United Air flight. Once on board much of it was very nice except for the show scheduling. To add on to that, as we are leaving the dock for sea, United Air texts us to inform us our return flight was cancelled and they have put us on another aircraft to Washington DC. We live in Detroit. I forwarded the message to our agent and asked her to see if we could get a flight home. (It was Sunday or I would have called. Our agent did respond ASAP which gave us some comfort, but all she could say is she would check). We called our daughter and asked her to check on flights home. We were not able to connect again until we hit Florida, but there was no change except our agent confirmed we did have a flight from DC to Detroit, but no seats. We found out later we were all but on standby. We figured we would have to find our own way once we got off the ship. I checked at Guest Services and two of your individuals tried very hard to come up with answers and did discover we had flights from DC to Detroit, but we didn’t have seats. That wouldn’t get straightened out until after we were in DC. Those who helped were Bala Jogi & Versha Bansoodeb. Bala called our room twice and sent us a written message. They did calm our nerves a little. Please tell them thanks again. You can imagine the anxiety all week with all of the unknowns. We were trying to get home to go out for Halloween with the grandkids, but that didn’t happen either. The United Air problems were not caused by Royal Caribbean although we booked it through you. I will address them directly. The long and short of it is that the dock situation was very unacceptable and took a few days to shake off. The cruise was good. Getting to and from the cruise was brutal. Robert & Susan Spaw 734-591-7854 Room 9700. Agent Danielle Smith, 800-278-4737 ex. 77182 See narritive

Your airline problems were similar to the ones we had with American in June. I will never willingly fly American Airlines again! Having made my Air arrangements through Celebrity, the concierge worked tirelessly for 2 days so we could get home to Houston from St Maarten.

Thanks for the review. I’m not familiar with RC but the cruise lines I’m familiar with have arrival times. If you get there early you may have to wait until your arrival time. The cruise lines are trying to stagger arrival times to spread out the arrival of passengers due in part to Covid. Around 2 weeks before my cruise I will have the opportunity to get an arrival time. First come, first serve.
