Overall this was a very relaxing cruise in which we didn’t do too much, which is what we were looking for.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Had designated embarkation time which they were sticking to until close to the end and they needed to get everyone on. Once inside the building the lines were longer than expected since everyone was supposed to have been spaced out. There was no line for suites or diamond or above. It took some time to get through the line and have our paperwork checked and be asked the health questions. Once through that though it was right onto the ship. Being as it was only the second sailing out of Port Liberty I’m sure things will improve with experience.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We ate at quite a few different restaurants with good to excellent experiences.
MDR at dinner had excellent service with very good food. Breakfast the service was slower and the food was okay but not as hot as I would have liked it. My husband tried the corned beef hash both times we were there and was very disappointed both times. It was mostly potatoes with a few small pieces of corned beef thrown in.
Chops was disappointing in both service and food but 150 Central Park was excellent and we went back a second night! We had scallops, short ribs, beet salad and Caesar salad for appetizers and enjoyed them all. Entrees we’re halibut, veal, lamb and lobster thermidor all excellent.
We ate at the Park Cafe for both breakfast and lunch multiple times with great experiences every time. You have to try the roast beef sandwich!
At Johnny Rockets we had the breakfast sandwich which was very good but took a long time.
Solarium bistro was good also for both breakfast and lunch. It’s buffet style with a Mediterranean leaning. The selections are fewer than Windjammer but not as crowded. Speaking of Windjammer, we only are there once for breakfast. We like that they dish up your food for you. The food is comparable with before the shutdown.
Trellis Bar
5 out of 5
Our favorite bar and bar staff this cruise! Loved the fresh air, live music at night and mostly the wonderful service provided by Komang, Igusti and Sumeet!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The fitness center is very good and very clean with wipes for the machines all throughout. Loved the walking track and how long it was and not having to go around 20 times to make a mile! There weren’t as many games and events as prepandemic but they still had trivia which we enjoy. Everything but the pool areas were great. With limiting the numbers of people in the pool at a time it was difficult to get into one. Some people would get in and then not get out for hours! RCL needs to come up with some kind of a system for limiting the time spent in the pool.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Loved the entertainment all through out the ship. Thoroughly enjoyed the diving and ice shows. Didn’t go to Cats as I’ve seen it before and there were only two shows neither time good for us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All the staff from the bathroom attendants, stair cleaners, room attendants you would meet in the halls and restaurant and bar staff were all so happy to see us all as we were happy to see them again. They were always smiling (with their eyes) and greeting everyone.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Oasis was sparking clean with someone wiping down the tables and chairs as soon as you stood up and left. As far as layout it was very easy to navigate even though it’s a huge vessel.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was adequate for two people. It was very clean and kept that way through out the entire cruise. I do wish that when the ship was updated that they had put outlets by the bed. USB plugs would be nice also. As for the bathroom, be sure to bring your own hair products and lotion. The only thing they supply is a combo hair/body wash and a bar of soap at the sink for washing your hands.if you’re about to sail
Ship tip
If you’re about to sail feel free to. We always felt safe with all the protocols. Wearing a mask was minimal, pretty much just walking from your cabin to wherever you were going. A lot of venues were for vaccinated only.
