Review summary

We had a lot of issues with shows that we reserved for 10 of us. We would get there 20 minutes ahead and they had already let in the standby guest. Guess what, the 10 of us could not sit together, in fact we were lucky to get 2 or 3 together. I complained and Nick, I guess he's the manager engaged me. Promised VIP seating for our next show, all we had to do was show the card he gave. I did that and the person at the VIP row had no clue, said I forged it and needed to go find seats elsewhere. Boy was I pissed. We left the show! Next day i was talking to guest services about other issues and I mentioned this. They were very apologetic and offered me a free bottle of wine. Asked what I liked, I told them Chardonay, they said DONE, and guess what, it never came. No follow thru is the biggest issue I have with Royal, this was just one example but there were others. They tell you what they think you want to hear and then don't do shit about it. As I mentioned to Nick's boss, this was my 38th cruise, 1st on Royal and it will be my last. Ed Lindoo

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Considering the amount of people on this ship, embarkation was pretty good

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was great, plenty to eat

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Loved the sanctuary, nice adult area with food and drink. Lots of activities on the ship including Trivia

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Entertainment is very, very, very dis-organized. We reserved ahead at least 4 months and had one hell of time trying to get into the shows. It was total chaos. I'll never do this again

Children's Programs

Didn't bring children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All very good, especially our steward,

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Well maintained for a huge ship

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5

Ship tip

My advice is don't go. The ship is too big, too many passengers, constant fighting for pool chairs, hot tubs, food lines. Its simply just nuts

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Nassau, Bahamas

We did a Scuba dive

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Great shape considering the hurricanes

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
Went to the airport beach bar as we always do. They expanded since the hurricane 2 years ago and now the place is a zoo. Waaay too crazy for me to go back

Sorry you fell through the cracks, I am 40 plus cruises in, I try not to board the ship with any preconceived notions so I don't have far to fall if I have a let down. Make all complaints in writing to the Hotel directer so they can deal with it and you can move on back to vacation mode. Safe cruising to all.

All your stars are 4 & 5 except for the entertainment because you couldn't sit with your group...but your advice is to not go? Seriously? Customer service is not what it used to be but it's a small thing in the big scheme of things. Your 4 and 5 stars for everything else should have you recommending the ship.

The bigger the ship and the more passangers there are the more these problems can occur and easier it is to fall through cracks. My inlaws with over a dozen cruises under their belt was not happy with Oasis when they cruised it. They said food and service was better on smaller ships.
