Review summary

Overall I enjoyed this cruise very much. The size of the ship and crowd took a bit of time to get used to but caused very little trouble other than the reservations issue that I discussed before. The staff was exceptional as expected and I can't wait to go again.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Very crowded but the staff was very professional and moved the mass of people through very efficiently.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Quality of the food at the main dining room, and at the specialty restaurants was exceptional, and the staff was outstanding. My only complaint was the charges for seemingly everything. Lobster was not offered as part of the main dining on any night without an additional charge. It was surprising but not completely unexpected.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The activities were excellent. The staff at the pools, and flowrider knew their stuff and were helpful and friendly.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows that we attended were excellent. The aquatic show was outstanding. The only difficulty came in getting access to the shows. The number of passengers means that the venues, which with the exception of the Opal Theater, were quite small, require reservations. If reservations were not made by the first day there was little chance of getting a seat.

Children's Programs

Did not travel with children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This is an area in which Royal Caribbean truly excels. The staff from the bus boys, to the hotel director, were professional and helpful to a fault. They went out of their way to assure that everything that we needed was taken care of completely and immediately. The staff was always there with a smile.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout was well thought out, but take a good pair of walking shoes. With a ship that's slightly less than 4 football fields long you're going to need them.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony and the cabin size was great. We had ample room to unpack everything and room to put the empty suitcases where they did not disrupt traffic. Having sailed in an interior I was very happy with the extra space.

Ship tip

Check in online and immediately look up the activities you want to attend, then make reservations. If it's done in advance that will take a great deal of stress off of you upon arrival.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Cape Kennedy was great. Well worth the trip. Cocoa Beach was also nice, but very crowded.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
The port was nice and we didn't have to walk a great deal to get from the ship to the port. We took a harbor tour excursion in a glass bottomed boat. It was wonderful. The staff was friendly and the sightseeing was great. I would certainly do it again.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We loved this port. We were greeted by dancers and performers and enjoyed it very much. In this port we took the Kon Tiki party boat excursion. IT WAS GREAT! It started with a tour of the general area while sipping rum punch. We were taken to a baech where we left the boat for some beach time. On the way back we had a dance party with some island dances, followed by a conga line, and limbo. Between the rum punch and the party a great time was had by all. If you love to party I highly recommend this excursion.

Disembarkation

For the size of the group leaving the ship it went very well. I recommend using the porters once you retrieve your luggage as the porters have express access through customs. It sped us through in a fraction of the time of those standing in line.
