Review summary

First cruise on an Oasis class ship and we were sold. First thought it would be intimidating and crowd - neither the case. Ship is well designed allow for separate areas (neighborhoods) that hide how many people you're actually sailing with. Food was great - highly recommend the chefs table. Plan to a sail her in the future.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5

Park Cafe

5 out of 5

The first place we visit when you board an Oasis class ship. Out of the way and no one finds it until day 2. So food is very fresh and service is great.

Windjammer Cafe

4 out of 5

Very nice selection. Crew kept the lines organized and clean. We avoided rush hour and would use it earlier in the day.

Giovanni's Table

4 out of 5

Thought the food and service was great. Service slightly better than MDR - far more responsive. Food was above the MDR, but not a WOW.

Dazzles

5 out of 5

Great bar with 2 levels. We used it as part of an on-board group gathering area. Super responsive staff. Great views of the promenade and sleek lighting. Entertainment offered on some nights.

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

Nautical deco fits nicely with the ship. Piano bar keeps you entertained and attentive staff keep a drink in you hand.

Main Dining Room

4 out of 5

Huge elegant venue. Wait staff worked like crazy keeping everyone served. They hustled. Food was very good, but because of the number of people, quality was stretched.

Mast Bar

5 out of 5

The place to visit when you're on the pool deck. Bar tenders worked well together, kept the margaritas coming.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5

Center Ice Rink

5 out of 5

Great entertainment - iceskating at sea. And if you felt lucky, you could try it out on select times. Amazing skaters master flying across the ice on a rocking ship!

Dunes Mini Golf

3 out of 5

Used it to pass a few minutes. Not very large but a pleasant distraction until too many other people end up finding it.

The Back Deck

4 out of 5

Used it to get a morning drink. When not crowded, a nice place to get a drink and relax, but seats fill quickly and becomes tougher to get service.

Casino Royale

4 out of 5

Nice sized casino for a cruise ship. Had easy entrance from 2 decks. Didn't win anything.

Vitality at Sea Spa

5 out of 5

Excellent spa service. Only complaint is its expensive.

Swimming Pools

4 out of 5

Nice pools, but nothing out of the ordinary. Very crowded with families at peak time. Lounge chairs close to the pool are scarce, need to get there early.

Carousel

5 out of 5

A trademark of Oasis class ships. Hand carved horses are great for a quick break and photo op with an icecream cone.

Entertainment

5 out of 5

AquaTheater

5 out of 5

Its like a water circus. Very talented water acrobats showing off their craft to great music.

Studio B

5 out of 5

The place for comedy shows. Nice lounge, attentive staff and great entertainment.

Library

4 out of 5

Nice quiet area with ample selection of reading material.

Ship tip

When you board, head to the central park cafe for lunch. Not many people find it until later in the cruise. Good food quiet venue.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Spent an overnight. Easy to find a hotel and transportation near the port. Didn't have time to tour the town.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Not much there unless you go to Atlantis or another "pay as you go" resort. Typical Caribbean shopping area swamped with tourists and eager vendors. Nice place for spring break crowd.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Lots to do - we did a snorkeling and Boss underwater cycle excursion. Was a blast, although the water was a little chilly off Buck island. Nice fish and coral to view.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
This is pre-hurricane, but found the town nice, walked and poked around the local shops.

RCL Oasis class gets you on and off quickly. We were happy with the service and help getting off the ship.
