Review summary

We thoroughly enjoyed our first Oasis class experience. Customer service second to none. Entertainment on Royal Caribbean's large ships is second to none. We are excited to experience Harmony when it arrives in Port Canaveral.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarked out of Port Canaveral where we always have a smooth and orderly experience. Appreciate the processes Royal Caribbean has put in place to handle large crowds and delays. Refreshments are available as well as plenty of seating sectioned by Crown and Anchor level

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was fantastic and appreciate all the unique venues on Oasis that offer their own specialties, our favorite lunch spot was in Central Park that offers salads, and pressed sandwiches. We were surprised to find a bottle of wine in our room when we arrived. All balconies overlooking Central Park included a bottle of wine and a free specialty luncheon. We ate for the first time at Giovanni's Table and enjoyed the best carbonara that I have ever eaten. The only negative food experience was quickly remedied. In the main dining room, ordered Steak Diane, and my steak came out as hard as a hockey puck. The amazing server brought it to the kitchen to show them the concern and immediately brought back a perfectly cooked steak! It was fabulous.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There is truly something for everyone: lots of pools (but all very small-the only negative), excellent bands of all genre, fabulous shows, trivia, activities for children of all ages (noticed when walking by the Anchor Club, how excited the kids were to enter), shopping (the fine jewelry staff were charming and even allowed me to wear their jewelry on formal night), bingo, dancing lessons, carousel, and of course, my favorite people watching.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Our favorite was Come Fly With Me, amazing! But they were all fabulous and many unique. We very much enjoyed the jazz band, which we found in a very small venue. Saw for the first time, Cats, hard to believe the full Broadway show on a cruise ship!

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We did not travel with children but our room was on the same floor. When we walked to the elevators, we enjoyed seeing the children very excited to enter. They featured the children in a pirates parade on the Promenade.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
100% of every interaction was professional and friendly. One thing I appreciate about Royal Caribbean is that the crew members seem to truly enjoy each other and their jobs. That speaks to how they are treated by RC.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The only negative in this category is for personal preference. This was my first Oasis experience, and while everything was top notch, the ship design did not allow me to experience my favorite aspect of cruising-----gazing at the water from multiple venues. I enjoy sitting in a venue, sipping a drink and staring at the water. The only places that allow this ultimately relaxing activity is on the pool or sports deck or if I had an outside balcony, which I did not.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
As always, when we first entered our cabin, we wondered if it was possible to store everything we brought as we always over-pack. But, in true Royal Caribbean fashion, they utilize every nook and cranny and everything found its way to a drawer or the closet and the suitcases all fit easily under the bed. The second negative we overcame on the first day by our regular arrival routine. We always wipe down all surfaces of our room with disinfecting wipes. This time we found nooks and corners that had not been cleaned in a while. This was the first time I have ever experienced that, and it was also the first time that we only had one stateroom attendant. She worked hard and I imagine cleaned the best she could working alone. We never mentioned it to her or anyone as we cleaned it ourselves, so to their credit, they did not have a chance to remedy the situation.

Ship tip

Our room was on the 14th floor and an interior balcony that overlooked Central Park. We enjoyed the upbeat pool music by day, and the evening classical strings and piano music by night. Interior balconies also provide chairs and a table to dry your wet clothes :)

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Jetty Park is right near the terminal and is a family friendly beautiful beach. Eat at Grills on the other side of the terminal for yummy local fresh seafood. They make excellent mojitos.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Took a private 3 hour tour of the island ($40 per person). Sad to see how devastating the hurricanes were last year to this small island of two nations. Primary focus was initially on the Dutch side due to tourism. They are just beginning to clean up the French side.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Walked the perimeter of the town along the fort border. Beautiful town!

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Royal Caribbean has truly made Labadee a beach paradise. We took the boat to the farthest beach spot. After enjoying a nice beach day, we took the tram to the market area, and then walked the rest of the way back. Haiti is gorgeous! I was mesmerized by the mountains.

Disembarkation

Lines moved quickly, highly organized
