Review summary

Even though we had some weather issues and high seas I didn’t feel it was bad. I slept like a baby.

Embarkation

Being in a suite the process is quick, only waited in line for two minutes to check in. Then off to the ship. Of course there’s the security line before which went fairly fast, five or so minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
A little disappointed at windjammer this trip. Only ate breakfast and a few lunches there. Main dining room for supper. Great service by Ronald. Would bring you the kitchen if you asked. All the staff in both venues were very helpful, bend over backwards to improve your service experience.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There is lots to do on Oasis class ships, shows to see outdoor movies under the stars. Rock climbing, wave riders, pools spas, bars music all over. Places for children to play. We didn’t partake in many ,but did go to the gym a few times. And did walk the track twice.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Little disappointed in Cats production. The cast was great but something was lacking, I couldn’t stay awake, bored I guess. Other entertainment was better, comedy club, ice skating show always good, Aqua theatre is always a good show, headliner show was good as well.

Service and Staff

Cabin / Stateroom

This is a junior suite, large by most standards. Had a closet and a bathtub, wow impressive. You can walk around and not have to squeeze past my wife.

Ship tip

The ship is large, holding 6200+ guests and about 2,000 staff. Good and bad. Usual you can walk around without crowds. Sometimes like eating there’s a line. We didn’t have this problem eating 5:30 deck 4 walked into our table with out a line. Entertainment in in the front of the ship. Food is in the back of the ship. Important decks are 5 -6 -8 . These decks give you good access traveling front to back. 5 shopping, and guest services. Deck 6 next cruise, photos, outside to Boardwalk, for Johnny rockets, aqua show. Deck 8 specialty dinning, park cafe. The park is a good venue for anytime dinning. Usually a line to get in. Deck 15 is pool and access to wave rider putt putt etc. Deck 16 windjammer for large crowds lots of food.

Ports of call

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We got off the ship and noticed there were changes at the port, a new building where others were. we didn’t do anything but walk the port grounds. You could see storm damage about the island. Talking to others the marina was destroyed from the storm,Maria. Boats thrown around piled up on shore.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

You walk off the ship directly into the city. Lots to see and do. We did the Bacardi factory tour for the second time. You get a welcome rum punch drink, then off to the tour. After the tour you get a second drink, choice of three. You get thick plastic tumblers to take home. Of course there’s a gift shop, you can get Rum or shirts etc. still having electrical issues on the island.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

Good beach day, though we walked around and had lunch. Stayed away from locals selling,as they get pushy

Disembarkation

This trip it was slow. Coast guard was doing an inspection. So ship was brought in port and docked opposite its usual direction. We were rerouted through the ship to exit . Coast guard didn’t release passengers right away. So lines were extreamly long. We did the walk off instead of waiting for the tag numbers to be called, this usually is a fast way to get out sooner. Not this time. Not Royals fault.
