Review summary

Royal Caribbean has always been one of my two favorite cruise lines. I was disappointed this time. So many things have changed since my last Royal cruise. Prices had gone up so much. Dining room service was great, but food was only fair. Choices were not good - for example, not much choice in salads and soups. At the end of the week, we said the best meal we had all week was at Johnny Rockets. Going through the book on off ship tours, there was only one for a handicapper person. Crew was amazing

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Royal Caribbean has embarkation down to a science. Only problem, ramp was extremely steep and difficult for anyone handicapped

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Waiters and bar tenders were great. Food, quality and choice was not up to what I expect from Royal. Prices had gone up a great deal - the bill for two mojitos was $30.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Nothing for a handicapped person to do

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was amazing. Royal Caribbean always has the best entertainment

Children's Programs

The only child with me is 58 years old

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Top notch service from all

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It is a beautiful ship - very large, but well laid out

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. I got up every morning with terrible back spasms. Handicap shower was scary for a handicapped person. There was a safety bar across the back but not one to help when exiting the shower. Floor was slippery and I had to bring in my walker to help exit. A horizontal bar at the entrance of the shower would help

Ship tip

Be prepared to do a lot of walking. Not much for a handicapped person

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

It is close to home and easy to get to

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
Again, for a handicap person, it was very difficult to get around. It was far from the ship and all the sand made it difficult to get arouond

Falmouth, Jamaica

4 out of 5
Very nice, but pavers made it difficult for a person with a walker

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Nice place

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Again, Royal has this down to a science

When my son and his wife cruised for their honeymoon last March, they brought her wheelchair for excursions. She can’t walk long distance because of her MS.
