Review summary

It was ok. Would not recommend Oasis of the Seas. Ship catered to children. They were aloud in bars, sitting at the bars. They were aloud in dance areas screaming and yelling at 11pm. Solarium allows 16 year olds in adult section. Not a good experience.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was ok. Not what Royal use to be. They seem to be forcing the specialty dining. Did not do specialty dining. Buffet was ok but was not open like it use to be. They closed down an hour in between breakfast and lunch and an hour between lunch and dinner. I came back from an excursion and they were closed. Very disappointing.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Disappointed in the zip line. They advertise it going across the ship. It doesn't. 10 minutes to get the gear on, 30 minute wait for a 7 second ride! The solarium pool is advertised as adults only. Since when is 16 considered an adult? It should be 21.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Wouldn't know. You have to reserve seats in advance. Still wait in line for 45 minutes. When did this start?

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
I felt like I was on Disney cruise. Too many kids, characters and kid parades.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room steward was great! Everyone else ok. Not attentive like they use to be.

Ship tip

Be prepared to be buckled and dimed!

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
Cozumel terrible excursion. Bus was not close. Tulum was fine. Came back to the tourist traps. One ferry to take many people back to ships and customs was a long line.

Cozumel, Mexico

It was was better. However, it rained heavily the day and night before. The horseback riding should have been cancelled. The mud was too deep for the horses to get there footing.

We went in October and had a great experience on Oasis! You always have to reserve shows on Oasis class ships (research pays off.) The zip line was rarely busy and you have to walk past it on your way to ride, so you know exactly how long it is. Unfortunately specialty dining is here to stay, on all lines. And the experience of trying at least one is well worth the extra money.

Oasis is really a big floating resort.... the ship is more of an attraction than the ports it stops for. This ship does cater to families. Doesn’t seem correct that kids were allowed in the dance clubs and bars after 11:00 though.

Wow, that is surprising. I agree I would not like that. I guess that’s why I stick with HAL, Princess and Celebrity. 🍸

Whenever you go on a big ship, especially the Oasis of the seas, it’s better to make reservations for the shows. It’s always been like that.
