Review summary

We will do it again!! The ship itself, the staff, the food, the entertainment, everything was exactly the way it needed to be to provide a unique and wonderful experience.

Embarkation

Very Good. Things went smoothly. The experience itself was a bit overwhelming for a first time cruiser. One small issue was when one bag was chosen for extra attention and for some reason they chose to impound a very small set of tools. (One that I routinely carry with me when I travel to fix those annoying little things that break (2 small screwdrivers, a small pair of pliers, a small wrench, a set of Allen Wrenches). They gave it back the last evening of the cruise - but it was kind of silly and took 45 minutes to go through the extra line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
This was unbelievable. RC food is the best. Everything was superb; the buffets, the sit down dining, the walk ups (hot dog stand, etc). The staff was always helpful and attentive.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Enjoyed them all. Used pools and whirlpools. Used the walking track every day as well as the fitness center and the vitality spa. Played miniature golf and multiple other activities. Everything was always in pristine shape; clean, well maintained, etc.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Saw all 5 of the main shows. They had a problem with the aquatic show at our scheduled time, but they immediately rescheduled our seats for a future show and then treated us to a big screen version of a quite recent movie. The Come Fly with me acrobatic/aerialist show was amazing as was CATS. The comedians/jugglers had us laughing for hours. We went to several jazz clubs, and piano bars and enjoyed them all.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Top of the line. The steward was an absolute pleasure and our room was kept immaculate. Everyone was super helpful and friendly regardless of the circumstance.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was spotless all the time. The staff was constantly cleaning all the public areas. In one week, I never saw a single piece of trash anywhere on the ship. One day I noticed a bottle and a cup sitting on a railing and before I mentioned it to my wife a steward came by, picked it up and wiped off the railing.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
They are small, but well designed. There was plenty of room for everything. Even the bathroom was fine. The bed was large enough and very comfortable. We got good night's sleep every night. Our steward, Anne Marie was wonderful and kept everything sparkling all the time.

Ship tip

Understand before going aboard that for one week you will be constantly sent advertising for additional ways to spend your money. This is my only complaint. Everything on the ship is a marketing scheme to find ways to separate you from your money! We were given gifts for our anniversary just to find out they were really only discount coupons. The ship newspaper, The Compass, is really only a daily advertisement for additional things to buy. That was quite disappointing.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Ship was rerouted due to hurricanes - Went to Nassau instead. This port was pretty much a waste of time. It was mainly just serious of stores selling luxury goods.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
Ship was rerouted due to hurricanes - Went to Cozumel instead. This port was interesting. Had a great taxi driver for the full day,. He showed us around the island, stayed with us while we toured, shopped and ate, and got us back to the ship with plenty of time to spare. The mayan ruins are interesting and worth a look.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Ship was rerouted due to hurricanes - Went to Costa Maya instead. This port was our favorite. Friendly people in a clean, well planned port area with all kinds of items for sale, not just the luxury items found elsewhere. Lots of things to see and do. Enjoyed the beach and the food.

Disembarkation
