was easy and we got on and off the ship with ease

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food was not great but the service was worse. It was like pulling teeth to get service on some days

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Activities were good but there wasn't any music on the pool decks but a few days out of the 7

Entertainment

2 out of 5
reservations needed to be made for shows. I don't want to plan my week out on vacation I just want to go and see a show. this was a big inconvenience

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Only service that was great was dinner with Adrian and a few bar services but majority were not welcoming or we hardly seen anyone to provide service

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is big but show rooms are too small

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5

Ship tip

Don't sail on it unless you want to wait on yourself and make reservations for everything on the ship

They do ask if you are celebrating anything when you book over the phone. For my BFF's 50th bday, there were chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in the room with the card. On the first night in the MDR, when we checked in the lady said, "ah we'll take care of you" and they brought out cake later. This was on Independence. So I get the OP's point, but I don't think you should count on it.

twangster makes a lot of sense - once again.

On my last cruise I ended up sitting near the same couple in the my time MDR each night. One night was her birthday and they brought her a cake and we all sang happy birthday. Her husband had talked to the head waiter and set it up. If you told them when booking and expected that to make it into something on the ship, that's unlikely to happen. Tell them on the ship if it's important to you. Lots of people say it's a special occasion hoping for a freebie.

Unless you paid for something, don't let it bother you. I'm not sure how RC leaving you a birthday note would have made your trip any better.

I never understand why people expect, then get disappointed by not being recognized. Hundreds are celebrating...you make your own celebration.

a cruise critic chat probably has no power to help. What did Royal Caribbean customer service say?🙄
