Review summary

Oasis class ships are amazing, you will not be disappointed. RCL far exceeded our expectations, service and food was exceptional. The ship had roughly 6400 passengers and we never felt crowded in anyway, I was very surprised by this. I felt that the cruise was a very good value for the money and we will be cruising again very soon.

Embarkation

2-main checkpoints. The initial security checkpoint went fast. We arrived early at 1130, all of the priority lines for each of the Crown and Anchor club had NO waiting but the main line for the commoners, which we were in as this was our first cruise with NCL, was very long. Once this pain was over it was a breeze!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We were worried about the main dining room as other cruise lines did not have the level of service and food quality we expected. This cruise we did a 5 night speciality dining package and the food was amazing. We had a few messages in our stateroom from our head waiter wondering if we were ok and was missing us in the main dining room, we called and they told us come by whenever you want. We were very happy with main dining and our server was so good we wished we would have been with him the whole time. The food was plentiful and whatever we asked the request was fulfilled. Outside of dinner we did visited the central park cafe and the solarium for a very quiet less busy time. Drink- I cannot tell you how happy I was with this drink program on RCL. My wife does not drink and other cruise lines have made me pay for drink packages that include alcohol because we have to ALL be on the same package. This cruise line lets you select each drink package for each guest and it was awesome, my Wife and boys tried every combination in the coke machines and the tumblers were very helpful so I could get some soda put in it for them at the bar without any drama. The best part and this may seem silly but the package includes gratuity and it clearly states that on the receipt, also the reciept every time reflected ZERO dollars as I had the drink package. This was outstanding as it allowed us to not worry and enjoy our vacation as other cruise lines would still show an amount on the bill but bartenders would say no problem it is covered and I always worried that I would get hit with charges later that I needed to check. Every single bartender and server was awesome and I never felt like I was getting less service because of the beverage package and some of them went above and beyond and were rewarded with tips. I will cruise with RCL again and again purely because of this experience.

Onboard Activities

never bored, something for everyone in our party The variety is amazing and it surprisingly never felt busy for any activity that we wanted to enjoy.

Entertainment

3 stars-Why? Cats-I am sorry but my family did not get this, I had heard it was slow to start but this was ridiculous. There were several groups getting up and leaving, by the time we were 20 minutes in 3/4 of the theatre was empty. The management and performers have to see everyone leaving, it is not because they have other things to do it is because the show is not good. What saved the entertainment for us was the comedy show, no we were no able to get a seat because they were completely booked up and thankfully for us they did a show in the large theatre the last night and it was absolutely amazing. Wish they did it more than one night, hey maybe get rid of cats! The other show that was 5+ stars was mo5aic, out of Vegas, an acapela group that performs with just their voices. I found myself many times looking around to see where the band or music was coming from. I would definitely pay to see these guys again.

We had 11207 and 11206 My wife and I were in balcony room, very clean, great service. Plenty of space for two, little tight sharing one closet. Boys had balcony of central park, they actually loved hearing twelve music in the park at night.

Ship tip

plan in advance, there are so many options and choices it can be overwhelming. Trust me do it well before you go so that you are not stuck dealing with it once boarding and standing in lines trying to get help at guest services.

great dock, they are building new buildings that are going to make it even better, easy transportation hub to get anywhere you want. Walking to downtown Phillipsburg if you want.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Wish we had more time, time at this port is too short, make up the time at sea.

very very smooth, I would recommend getting a porter to help with bags. Very friendly service, help with bags, and expedited customs line.
