Review summary

The ship itself is clean and beautiful.  Everyone was happy and helpful.  What I did not enjoy was additional and high costs for internet, the drinks.  Constantly trying to sell you additional dining options, shore excursions, etc.  The casino was terrible.  Old, boring machines which paid you literally pennies.  Anyone who goes to casino can see the difference in updated machines and old ones.  The odds of winning are extremely low.  Lost interest after an hour.  BORING and a waste.

Port Shopping.  I am so angry about this part that I'm having difficulty containing myself.  After attending 2 seminars on board giving us advice on which stores they stand behind, I trusted RC.  We went to Diamonds International where we spent almost $30,000 in one store.  When I returned home I had my diamond ring appraised and what I paid $23,000 was appraised at $8,000.  The other 2 items list for half of what I paid for them.  This is deliberate fraud by the stores, the cruise line, and their port shopping advisers.  They lead us to believe they were educating us as to what were the best stores to shop that they stood behind.  When in reality it was the best stores in which they would realize a very generous kickback by overcharging and stealing from the consumer.  I will be sure to share my experience with many others so that they don't become a victim like I and so many others have.  You can rest assured that this will not be the end of my experience.  It's too bad, because this aspect of my Cruise ruined what otherwise would have been a good vacation.  One that my husband and I deserved after overcoming medical and personal issues.

Very spacious, clean and quiet. In close proximity to elevator. Attendant was extremely attentive and was compensated with an additional tip. I would recommend staying in this room to others.

Ship tip

Don't go shopping on any of the excursions because you will be scammed without even knowing about it. Don't fall for attending the shopping seminars so you can get a charm bracelet. It's cheap and made in China. So are the charms. Beware if Diamonds International. Read the fine print.

Rc has a guarantee on what they sell as well as any store they represent you can get a full refund if it's not worth what they say it was

if it was one of their trusted stores, they will stand behind their guarantee...send it back.

I was on Oasis in April. Gorgeous ship. Nothing I didn't love about the cruise. The prices of everything onboard was layed out in my cruise planner months before the, cruise sailed. As for Diamonds International, why do people feel that buying something as expensive and important (to some) would be less expensive or that you would get a better deal or better quality than a trusted jewler at home. Its a shame you were scammed but come on... are the t-shirts that people buy at the many outdoor vendors there of any better quality then the ones you would buy at home? So why but jewlery on an island that you may never get back to again to return the jewelry if something had happened to it

The price for all of the extras on board should not have been a surprise as all of this is clearly listed on their website or I'm sure your TA would know. Casinos are the same on every ship I've been on. I've never been much of a gambler though. I am sorry you felt the store ripped you off. I've never attended any port shopping shows or bought diamonds abroad. Or anywhere else for that matter. Lol.

I feel terrible that you had such a bad experience.  That said, it seems you may be placing blame for your experience in the shopping seminar folks and/or RCI in general.  In any situation, home or abroad, it is a "buyer beware" situation.  The onus for being knowledgeable before paying THOUSANDS of dollars on anything lays firmly on the buyer, not someone from a seminar.

All the drink packages & internet costs are on the cruise planner. Shouldn't have been a surprise. As for Diamond buying, that's a risky business no matter where you go! Maybe you need to go and get another appraisal st another place. I am going on my cruise to relax and celebrate my victory over cancer not to buy expensive stuff. I will leave that for a home shopping spree

Sad that this happened, my experience was very different with DI. I did however know to haggle on price (which they do not tell you on ship, and at first the store will tell you how it is fixed price). I had done my homework on the diamond quality, size and price I wanted and they read the research I showed them, immediately met price and when I said that was a mainland price, they found me a better quality, slightly larger (certified) stone. Since returning I had it appraised and it appraised for $3000 more than I paid.
