Review summary

My favorite part of the cruise was when we got off the ship in St Marten, we road 4 wheelers around the island. What I didn't like about Oasis of the seas,

You have to pay for popcorn (really), you have to pay for all the specialty restaurant, like 42.00 per person for one restaurant in particular and it's the same steak you get at dinner at night IN THE DINING ROOM, no rib eyes  steak or new York strip, a daiquiri is $11.00, carnival $6/7, . There are no iron on board except for you have to pay for someone to iron your clothes. I hate the fact that you had to make reservation to see the shows. I hated that oasis of the seas allow cruiser to make reservation in advance before they got on the ship. So when you tried to make reservation when you got on the ship, all shows were sold out. When you spend your hard earn money to enjoy all that the ship has to offer you find high prices and sold out show. I brought 4 other couples along with me. Everyone of them STATED THAT THIS WAS A SENIOR CITIZEN  SLOW CRUISE AND DIDNOT WANT TO COME BACK TO  ROYAL CARRIBBEAN. THE SHIP PLAYED WALMART MUSIC. WE WERE LOOKING FOR CARIBBEAN MUSIC. PLEASE PASS THIS REVIEW TO ROYAL CAARIBBEAN AND TELL THEM OUR GROUP FROM NOW ON IS CARNIVAL BOUND FROM NOW ON.

What restaurants on the oasis are complimentary

What is Walmart music?

People should read their e-mails or go to RC web site and check your account because RC remind you to book your shows. Specialty Restaurants. Excursions and beverage packages about once a week even if you have already booked it. Please people do you homework if not you do run into problems. I'm just saying. 😕

Carneys will be Carneys...

I booked our shows at about 120 days out, I sail in 3 weeks, and they're STILL reminding me LOL.

Small popcorn is about $2.95 with the gratuity added. Keep in mind that even though shows are marked full, they open the seating to anyone without reservations the last 10 minutes before the show starts, if there are seats available (and there usually were).

Just booked seats for 2 of thw cats shows last nite took 2min I dont see the problem

Yes there are inconsiderate people on some cruises, on any line. I see it when I fly for work too. Also hotels I stay in. The many great people generally outweigh the bad ones.

She was not waiting- ummm you just walked up yeah, actually you are. I politely told her I didn't care if she was the captains wife, she could wait like the rest of us and if she hit me one more time I'd be having security called and I'd report her for assault. Five people behind let her know that she could wait behind them as well and they witnessed the assault

Our last Carnival cruise a little older lady (at least 80's with a cane) literally hit my leg with her cane not once but twice because she needed to order her coffee and she had a talk to get to do she didn't have time to wait. Apparently she was too good to wait in the 10 minute line the rest of us had already waited in. When I proceeded to order my coffee at my turn she hit me again and told me

Ghiagal - go girl! I've done a bunch of Carnival and only one Oasis yet I find myself looking to book another RC mega ship. If OP doesn't want sail RC that's ok too. Any day at sea on any ship is a great day. Cruise on!

ghiagal    8 years ago

And Carnival last March a daiquiri was $10 not $6

In Central Park, jazz bands in Jazz on 4. Live music at Boleros and Atlas. Compared to our last Carnival where hot tubs closed at 9 and there was one bar in the casino after 10 and limited shows, I'll stick to Royal. Btw RCCL sends emails telling you to book your shows, people on here warn you to book, any 5 minutes of research could have pointed out to book ahead

Very good, and the experience is completely different. 150 isn't a steakhouse per say so the steak choices are limited. Giovanni's is Italian and we've enjoyed it every time. Senior cruise? We've been on her and each time it's been a very good assortment of ages. There were always plenty of music options, had Caribbean music by the pool last week. Top 40 in the nightclub. Great acoustic artists

I have no problem paying for a specialty restaurant, it's a different experience. We've done cruises where we haven't find them and ones like last week were it was nice to avoid the crowded dining room and sit in Central Park and get more personalized service. Chops steaks were nothing at all like the ones in the MDR, including the paid options in the MDR. We tried the ny and the filet both were

I think that would create chaos. Folks complain about reservations required for shows that seat several hundred. Reservations for restaurants that seat 50-75 would go fast and be a sore spot for anyone that doesn't get one.

matthewradecki    8 years ago

Cptkid yes I know, but what I was saying is that they should make it free and justify it by raising the prices slightly. I'd rather pay a little more to have better service/better food, just a thought

Popcorn is sold outside the theatre for Cats, I agree it's stupid. you obviously weren't informed that you need to reserve your shows in advance due to the number of passengers onboard. I n Oasis class ships, if you book after A minimum of 90 days before sailing zone you will run into lesser availability for shows and choice of times. all cruise lines have specialty restaurants with exorbitant fees. you probably thought every restaurant except the main dining room and the Windjammer buffet is an additional charge, and they aren't. there are many many complimentary dining options on Oasis Class. you need to do your homework or book with a knowledgeable agent who can advise you in advance

haroldnca    8 years ago

How much is popcorn?

cptkid    8 years ago

Matthew non if them have free specialty restaurants and never will

We got off the oasis a few weeks back. We thought the ship was beautiful looking. Getting on was simple and fast. However I thought the service absolutely sucked! To get a drink served to you around the pool area was impossible. The staff really seemed to have a moral issue, they seemed miserable. There was definitely a lack of attention to detail with the cleanliness in our room too. You can tell where they made the budget cuts. It's sad because the ship was great but the service not so much. We ate at all the special restaurants, and the food was ok. Here's the thing all of that should be free, in return royal should up their prices by 10-20%, and really set the industry standard. This was my first with royal, and probably one of my lady

twangster    8 years ago

The specialty restaurants on Carnival also cost money. Same with NCL. It's a trend in the cruise industry including Carnival on an increasing basis. I do agree about the laundry facilities on Carnival and miss that on RC. Senior citizen cruise? Lost me there.

ahowell54    8 years ago

Exactly, nenna2205! If you want to go to a concert or play, you certainly have to make advance reservations!!

JennaFullmer    8 years ago

Wow. I do not get why every bad review is always the same. Constant complaining about the shows. If you fpund this app to complain why didn't you bother to look before you sailed. You would have seen constant comments about booking before you go. I don't understand why so many people can't take 10 minutes out of their day to prepare for a weeks worth of hassle. Did you just show up to the airport and expect an open flight? No you had to book months in advance. And the complaints about the specialty resteraunts, cry me a river, nobody forced you to eat there. Please go, no run back to Carnival.

ahowell54    8 years ago

You should have done your research ahead of time and you would have known about making reservations. Can you imagine the nightmare of 6000 people trying to make reservations once on board? To each his own but I personally can't stand carnival cruise line.
