Review summary

My 21 year old daughter and I had a wonderful cruise.  Top praises goes to the staff!  They couldn't have been more helpful, and all seemed very happy, from our room being cleaned impeccably every day, to the restaurant/waitstaff/barstaff, and everyone around the ship, always had a large smile and personable greeting.  Shows were absolutely top rate, and I liked that they would add smaller shows (singers from Cats giving an impromptu Broadway song show).  Royal Caribbean did an awesome job and will definitely cruise with them again.  However, I'll pick a week when all children are in school!  The week before there were 5900 passengers, ours was 6300 and filled with children!  They were everywhere, running around yelling and screaming! Some of the passengers were very rude, not even acknowledging that you even said hello.  The configuration of the Windjammer Buffet seemed inefficient, people pushing and shoving running around the circular stations.  The Solarium is supposed to be a quiet adult section, however there were groups of 20-somethings (considered adults?) who seemed to be having a loud drinking party in the pool and spa; this is one thing I think should be enforced, since it is supposed to be sort of a "retreat" not a frat party!  Overall, we had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I booked a guarantee interior room and was given a large interior above Boleros - the Latin dance club. We were very worried about noise, but since the ship was full, we couldn't change. There was absolutely no noise whatsoever! It was very quiet, wouldn't even know you were on a ship with 6300 people! The only noise was the last night, the people next to us seemed to be having a party pretty late. Room was good size, bed and pillows were comfortable, everything was clean and kept perfectly.

Ship tip

Skip the Windjammer buffet for breakfast - go the main dining room, either sit and order from the menu, if you have time, or just go through their buffet. Royal refreshment is worth the money, in addition to specialty coffee and etc., we would order virgin drinks with alcohol on the side.

Agreed shivdan. A please, thank you and a smile go a long way!

shivdan    8 years ago

I was in the service industry for 10 years manners will get you nearly everything, some people don't realize that

Well said, it's a shame that core values are not being taught anymore. KIDS today have no idea what the golden rule is. As a former educator, a mother and a southern woman this is so saddening to me. Our society is full of "entitled" adults raising "entitled" children. It's shameful that manners are a rarity.

Live in small town called Miami Springs. Bout 5 miles north of MIA. Access to Florida ports great! On the manners topic, a woman on an electric scooter drove over my hubby's foot and didn't blink. Had 4 grand kids with me and when they forgot a please or thank you, they were reminded on the spot by one of the adults. As parents and grandparents it is our responsibility to ensure these young folks can step up and take their place in society. Rambling done, this was an awesome experience with so many beautiful memories to take home! Cruise on!!

@jimandkatie I moved fown here 4 yrs ago after living in Tennessee my entire life and I love it!! I can't imagine moving back. Melbourne is 20 min South of Cocoa and has a small town feel to it😀

Never had problems with loungers by the pool or on the solarium 😊

ghiagal    8 years ago

It's a 6-7 hour flight for us.

shivdan    8 years ago

Dang takes us a bit longer, depending on connections about 9-10 hrs

cruisetimeahead    8 years ago

What's it like getting poolside loungers on Oasis. Would one have be there at sunrise to get one?

shivdan    8 years ago

First cruise for us was Freedom, saw a Carnival ship and then Freedom, no comparison, we're super impressed with RCL

cruisetimeahead    8 years ago

Jealous. Port everglades only about a 7 hour flight away from me ha

capttrips    8 years ago

We did 26 years ago. There is so much to do here, we never fly anymore. Cruise ports are anywhere from 2 1/2-4 hour drives from where we are on the west coast. It's great.

Totally!!!! We were so excited after Oasis, now we have friends booked to join us! We did a Carnival cruise in March and were just so disappointed, hot tubs were closed early, little entertainment compared . Re booked Oasis two days after we got home

I wanna move to florida. Did 10 days after last cruise driving around there last year

shivdan    8 years ago

Have done the math, costs nearly as much to go out of Southampton, exchange rate and all that, couple of extra quid and you go out Florida 🛳✈️😀

Deffo 😀🍸🍸🐬🍾

ghiagal    8 years ago

You'll love it!

cruisetimeahead    8 years ago

Only our second cruise. Did adventure of seas last year for honeymoon so we too wanted to go bigger!

ghiagal    8 years ago

So jealous! When we got off last fall we had so wished we'd done a b2b!

shivdan    8 years ago

We'll be there that week too, doing a b2b, that will be our 2nd week, decided to try one of the big ships and do 2 weeks too see how we like it 🇮🇪🇮🇪🛳

For me it is a German mother - Irish father mad mix of manners instilled to say the least 😜

tracyandchuck    8 years ago

These 10 people pushed their way into an already full elevator, stepping on people, pushing people up against the glass then refused to move to let anyone off, I couldn't believe it. I was embarassed by my actions but the next time I saw them they didn't make eye contact with me.

ghiagal    8 years ago

Irish grandmother- please, thank you, excuse me, apologize or you'd be sorry! Lol

domm1e    8 years ago

It is true what they say, manners cost nothing. I wish more people would remember that. Being polite is something I had instilled in me at an early age

ghiagal    8 years ago

Lol Tracy!!! I'm as sweet as they come, until you hit me with your cane. I always say please, thank you, excuse, I'm sorry. I hold the door the elevator. Some people have no manners!

tracyandchuck    8 years ago

I am a sweet southern girl that says please, thank you, excuse me and have a wonderful day. I'm unhappy to say that someone repeatedly pushing me and stepping on my feet with no care in the world for anyone but themselves brought out the southern red neck on our cruise. My toes throbbed for 2 days and I still haven't heard an "excuse me" lol

ghiagal    8 years ago

😂😂😂😂

shivdan    8 years ago

Excellent - never mess with the Irish before they have their first coffee, or Tea in some cases ☕️

ghiagal    8 years ago

I was thinking you might be my bosses name is Siobhan!

shivdan    8 years ago

Cool, we are Irish too 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪

domm1e    8 years ago

Aw, thanks for that Hun 😄😄

ghiagal    8 years ago

I'm 5'5 and Irish and had not had coffee yet 😉

shivdan    8 years ago

Ouch - my other half is 6'4 and and used to play Rugby, not many people dare to be rude - but he is just a big teddy bear - they don't know that though. 😜🐻🐻

ghiagal    8 years ago

With her cane and repeated " I'M with the bloggers group I CANNOT WAIT!" I ordered my coffee and told her she hit me with her cane one more time and I'd report her.

ghiagal    8 years ago

I will say we were on Carnival during their "bloggers cruise" some of the "blogger guests" we're horrible!!! I waited in line for coffee one morning and this elderly lady walks in front of me - shows her badge- tells me " I'm with the blogger group I HAVE AN EVENT TO GO TO AND I NEED MY COFFEE!" Umm then you should have gotten here earlier, I proceeded to walk up to the counter- she hit my leg

Rude passengers are not fun, entitlement not a good trait, the crew are people too

ghiagal    8 years ago

Is full- the guy walked in pushed his way through every row then cussed the staff out and left.

ghiagal    8 years ago

We are usually in the solarium or things like that, so not usually around them. Don't have problems with them - they are having fun on vacation. I agree about rude passengers, our last cruise this guy was yelling at the Comedy club because his travel agent scheduled him the wrong night and he wanted to go NOW. Several cuss words later the poor guy said be my guest to look around for a seat, the

We took our very first cruise in May on FOS (are going in Dec and again late April of next year) There weren't very many children. The ship itself and staff were too notch!! We also had the unfortunate experience of overly down right rude passengers. It amazed me that some people are so nasty not only to fellow passengers but to the staff as well. It was embarassing to me as an American. We absolutely loved Royal Caribbean it will be our choice for a long time to come⚓🚢🎉🍹🌋

shivdan    8 years ago

We cruise at the end of September - usually not too many kids on the ship then - but it doesn't bother us one way or the other, they are just having fun

domm1e    8 years ago

Another reason why we cruise in September. Far fewer children., not that We have anything against children, just vast amounts of them at the one time 😄

ghiagal    8 years ago

We cruise is October and there are not many kids on board.

So, I'm 62 years old now, and when I think back, I'm sure me and my friends partied where maybe others disapproved, but those are my memories, and good ones! Let them make their own memories. My wife and I can always find a quiet spot on any ship, pool deck or above, to relax. As you said, if you book when school is in session, or if you book a longer cruise, you will have a different clientele.
