Phenomenal ship - mediocre service

Sail Date: January 03, 2015

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

This ship feels like a small city floating on the sea. There were pros and cons to our experience.

Pros: Staterooms were spacious and clean; Ship was beautifully crafted with smart use of space; loved the spa & solarium area; ice skating show was the best entertainment we've seen on any ship; fantastic entertainment venues.

Cons: Crew seemed overworked and rude; crew responded negatively to prepaid drink cards; my time dining delivered a poor table and indifferent wait staff; food was average unless you paid extra for the specialty restaurants; outside of the ice skating show & comedy club the other shows were poor.

Ship Quality
Clean and well maintained
Food and Dining
Food quality was not as good as Princess; too many "extra-charge" restaurants
Service and Staff
Encountered some rude staff members, many indifferent staff members, and a few good staff members.
What happened to Cats? Hated the fill in show Abbacadabra; Loved the ice skating (Hans Christian Anderson)
Children's Programs N/A
Onboard Activities
Would like to see Aqua Theater used more for adult movies in the evening; trivia was OK; venue was too small for karaoke
Destinations and Excursions
Loved Labadee, Falmouth was OK (locals very aggressive), & Cozumel met expectations
Cabin / Stateroom
Our cabin was clean. We did ask for anything extra nor did we see our cabin steward until the last night.
Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
It was fun. The weather was chilly. The airboat ride was fun even though we saw few animals. The alligator guy seemed very annoyed he had to come to work that morning because a coworker called off.
Labadee (Cruiseline Private Island)
Loved the cabana. It was a very relaxing day. Lunch was fabulous. Beech was very rocky and not good for swimming.
Falmouth, Jamaica
Felt very rushed. Dunns River Falls were beautiful but treacherous! Make sure you take water shoes and you are in good shape to be able to navigate the slippery rocks in rushing water.
Cozumel, Mexico
Boat ride was horrendous - everyone was vomiting. Make sure you get on the top deck. Bus ride was long. Chichen Itza was incredible but our tour guide was bad. Do not spend your whole day getting there and getting back. No time to see Cozumel.

Book everything online (ie; shows, excursions, drink packages, etc..) to avoid standing in lines. Be aware that even though tips are included and your drinks may be prepaid - servers will want a tip or will provide poor service. Highly recommend valet luggage service - it is worth the $20!
