Review summary

It was a pleasant cruise but nothing outstanding. We picked it for the itinerary since it stopped at many ports. The ship was very clean and security was very good. Happy that everyone had to be vaccinated or tested before being allowed on board. The food and entertainment were disappointing.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The main dining rooms were nice and easy to get a table at whatever time you wished to dine. The Asian restaurant was not good and the steak I had at the steakhouse was tough.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
It was too cold for the pool but there were plenty of available lounge chairs if the weather had been better. A pass for the indoor pool at the spa was expensive. We enjoy trivia games but they were scheduled mainly too early in the day rather than in the afternoon.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The stage shows were average. The juggler/comedian was ok but the magician was awful. The aerialists were good and Andre Cruz was entertaining. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to The Three V Strings in the Atrium during the day. The shows in the theater were always too loud.

Children's Programs

No children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was excellent and the staff in the Garden cafe worked very hard to make sure tables were cleared quickly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very clean but the design of the ship was odd. You often were not able to walk down both sides of the ship to get from the front to the back of the ship. Some elevators did not go to all floors and to get to the Versailles restaurant you had to go to the 7th floor and then down a half flight of stairs. Odd.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was tight because it was a small cabin but the storage was great and it was well designed.

Ship tip

Don’t expect great food and the entertainment is mediocre.

Ports of call

Le Havre (Paris), France

5 out of 5
We took an excursion to Honfleur which was a lovely little fishing village with quaint shops and restaurants. A trip to Paris was available but it is far away and so a long ride.

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

5 out of 5
Great port. Would love to visit again. Took an excursion that included a canal boat ride and a tour. Lots of free time to explore the shops and brewery. Delicious chocolate, pretty lacework and great Belgium beer.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

4 out of 5
Lots to see but we had been there before so we took an excursion to Volendam and Maarken two small charming villages.

Hamburg, Germany

3 out of 5
A typical big city with a square, a town hall and lots of shops.

Oslo, Norway

5 out of 5
We had been there twice and visited Vigeland, a sculpture park, which we loved. This time we visited friends that live there.

Goteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden

3 out of 5
Nothing that stands out. We did take a city tour.

Aarhus, Denmark

4 out of 5
Free shuttle into town which was nice.

Kiel, Germany

2 out of 5
It was Sunday so the stores were closed but there were tons of flea market tables set up in the city center. We took a walking tour with a beer tasting but the tour was pretty boring and the beer was only fair. Disappointing.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had an early flight but it was easy to get off the ship carrying our own luggage and easily caught a taxi to the airport.
