Review summary

Ship is well worn but working well.  The staff, and crew were excellent, shows were also very good with lots of variety.  Norwegian is not known for their cuisine, we found a few evenings with nothing to our liking, and we are not picky eaters.

It's amazing to me the comments people make about the food on cruise ships. First of all because the meals are paid for I see people eat way too much. Pretty good considering preparing food for 1000's of passengers. I've been on so many ships around the world about (50+) and can't remember ever been disappointed with either the regular or speciality dining. Also, look at cabin size on Star 205 sqft, newer ships lucky to have 185sqft. So remember one gets what they pay for. Want better food go on a high end expensive line. I take into consideration how many people on the ship. Look at the larger ships now, 4000 to 5000 people on the ship with 1100 crew. On NCL Jewell & Star for example at 2400 people 2 ships in a small port like Corfu Greece with 4200 ea compared to 2400 ea, pretty crowded. Regards to food I enjoy everything, staff, places and most of all being relaxed. Just saying, Glenn

I completely disagree. We sailed the Star in October 2015 and found the ship to be in excellent condition, not worn at all. And with regards to the food, frankly we found it to be exquisite. The Specialty Dining Package is more than worth the extra money and even the food in the MDR was excellent.

I agree with Cruisersssndr. We had a 14 night cruise in September and were very happy with the ship. It's very clean, didn't see any worn spots. The Versailles dining room is elegant and in perfect condition. No issues with food anywhere. Their Sauna is better than on some new ships. The entertainment was much better than on Royal Princess. It just has fewer bars and lounges as, in my opinion, they had to open several for-fee restaurants in their space to match the newer ships.

We were on the Star in April. Won't sail on a small and/old ship again. Pool too small and not enough deck chairs on any of the decks. The Market Place buffet reminded me of a high school cafeteria. Food was ok but not near as good as the Windjammer on Royal Caribbean Freedom Of The Seas. We had the Ultimate dining package and the Moderno, Teppanyaki, and Cagneys Steakhouse were great. The Italian restaurant wasn't very good. The Noodle Bar was quite good and O'Sheehan's was good too. Our ocean view cabin was nice. We are going on the Carnival Magic next May and looking forward to Guy's Burgers and BBQ. We cruised on Carnival Liberty in 2014 and enjoyed it a lot, especially the molten lava cake they have every night in the dining rooms, and the 24/7 ice cream. Looking forward to it again on the Magic.

We were on the Star in February 2016. It was refurbished in march 2015. Looks great. We found plenty of good things to eat. What areas did you find to be worn?
