Tennis shoes for short street excursions yes. If your headed into the forests or other wilderness areas I would recommend a sturdy hiking boots or trail shoe. With water repellent for good measure.

I recommend taking a show that's comfortable to walk in. One that's at least water resistant. It does depend on the activities you plan on doing though. I'm personally taking hiking boots, as when I go here in May I'll be doing a couple excursions in the outdoors. Hope this helps
