Review summary

The cruise was good but never great. We drove to Miami port and the cruise was not worth the drive from North Florida. Their service needs improvement. We'll stay with NCL but next time a bigger ship and longer cruise.

I can say this cruise had the worst and best food of any cruise I've been on. The ribs in the MDR on the first night were so horrible I could not eat them, but the sides (pasta salad and coleslaw) were delicious. Second night at MDR with pad Thai and spring rolls was great. The beef tenderloin with Bleu cheese stuffed pasta at La Cucina on the third night was by far the best meal I've ever had on a cruise with superb service. The buffet for lunch was hit or miss (which is normal) and MDR for breakfast was average.

The bartenders gave it their all. Our room steward was MIA after the first day. Really disappointing.

Smallest cabin ever. Decent balcony. Yes, lots of noise from the pool area above. Ear plugs help tremendously. Easily adjustable air temperature. The water temperature in the shower was ridiculously finicky. It was an art to gutting the temperature exact.

Ship tip

Pack as lightly as you can. Cabins are very VERY small so you don't have a lot of room for luggage.

Fantastic day but GET THERE EARLY. Escape arrived about 2 hours after we got there and the island became very crowded. Ok food at the buffet. Snorkeled and saw some beautiful fish.

Easy enough. I love that immigration check is done on board so once you are cleared to leave the ship, you are really home free.
