Review summary

The overall value and experience on the NCL Sky is not what it used to be.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We are platinum status with the NCL Latitude program, so embarkation was a breeze. (This is the only time your loyalty status is taken into account during the 4 day cruise)

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Drinks on NCL are always good, we did notice that the quality and variety of the food is not as good as it has been on previous NCL cruises.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Activities on board the ship are somewhat limited, especially on a 4 night cruise with an overnight in Cuba.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment on NCL is always great, however I don't recall the name of the production show for this cruise.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Housekeeping staff on board the vessel provided great service, but the overall customer service atmosphere on the ship was one of indifference.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This was our second sailing on the SKY and in all fairness the NCL Sky is starting to show her age. Bathrooms for approximately 80-100 cabins were intermittently inoperative for close to two days, including disembarkation day. Both the customer services reps on the vessel and shore side operations didn't seem overly concerned with the situation when it was brought to their attention.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabins are small and the cleanliness of the cabins leave a lot to be desired. In fact we had to ask the cabin steward on several occasions to spray deodorizer in the room due to the musty damp smell.

Ship tip

If you take a 4 day cruise your NCL Latitudes status is not taken into account, no priority disembarkation, complementary dinners or welcome package.

Ports of call

HAVANA, CUBA

4 out of 5
The port itself was a lot of fun, we had been to Havana before, but by ship is certainly a new experience. The initial customs process left a lot to be desired, but after the initial visit getting on and off the ship was done with relative ease.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

4 out of 5
Always a blast.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
It was chaos - priority disembarkation is not provided to Latitudes members on cruises that are 5 days or less in duration. Priority is only given to those in suites.
