Ship tip

The ship is older and one of the smaller ones in the fleet but has all the main amenities you would expect. The lounge style theatre is a nice change for the fixed rows of seats and the shows are worth attending.

As with most cruise terminals the facilities are limited so I suggest timing this so you can get onboard without too much delay.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

Book a tour ahead of time so you get to see as much of this city as possible. We did a classic car tour booked through United rather than NCL as there is a difference in cost. The cruise terminal is limited but does have a couple of shops to pick up your rum and cigars as well as a place to change money to CUC and back although the opening times are limited. Customs clearance is fairly simple but can involve queuing initially as pictures are taken. If you have a morning tour then worth getting out early. Repeat entry/exit is a lot quicker and more like a simple walk through. As with any port you will get the vendors trying to sell tours etc but they did at least accept No for an answer and it wasn't as bad as some places.

Booked a shuttle bus back to the airport and this seemed to be totally disorgansied. Based on them knowing the ships arrival time and having to have prepurchased transfer tickets, we were surpised that only 1 bus seemed to be available at the time leaving queues of people waiting for the next bus. As the site has numerous bays you wouod have thought at least 3 buses could have been waiting to help speed up the process.
