Review summary

Hurricaine Irma shortened the cruise. Norwegian Sky dumped us at Miami Port. Offered 5 phone lines while at sea to try to change flight plans at same time as thousands were also trying to make flight changes. Other ships kept their passengers and sailed out to safety. Norwegian Sky didn't so much as say thank you for sailing with us or ask if we were able to get out of Miami. Just docked and swiped our cards to make sure we'd left the ship. Staff onboard kept saying a customer care crew would be there when we docked to help. No one was there.

Service and Staff

Some staff were very good and others indifferent. Staff to help with changing travel plans due to hurricaine had no information or authority to be of much help.

Cabin was sufficient

Ship tip

Don't book a room under the swimming deck. They clean it at night dragging furniture and hoses making quite the racket when sleeping directly below. Or trying to sleep anyway.

Seg368, you still don't get it... maybe I am wasting my time trying to get you to understand... we all know a hurricane is a catastrophe, far worse for those poor souls out in the islands etc, but that's exactly why it's irresponsible to dump people into its path without ensuring they have safe onward arrangements as occurred here... Twangster, thank you you understand exactly how NCL totally messed it up for the Sky guests who following the instructions given to them by the ship...

It appears to me NCL had planned to offer assistance, told the ship crew that representatives would be on shore, so the ship crew followed instructions and disembarked passengers, but those represebtives were not actually in place. Eventually someone realized this and they managed to help some Sky cruisers and place them on Escape. The breakdown occurred when Sky crew were told it was being cared for on shore when in fact it wasn't, until some point later. Meanwhile cruisers like @nangledot and @LobsterPot got the boot and the shaft.

LobsterPot - i think you missed my point as well. I understand the chaos involved during a hurricane. Until the storm hits land we do not know where it will hit. Until it has passed, we do not the damage it will render. Had NCL remained at sea many would have been displeased - maybe they needed to board up for the storm. Coming back displeased many. It is impossible to please all of the people. Bottom line: If you do not want to chance running into this situation do not sail during hurricane season. Especially the peak the hurricane season.

Seg368, you miss the point, NCL brought people back to Miami and dumped them in an already chaotic evacuation zone with no provision, assistance or contribution towards their accommodation or transport... Those folks could have been forced to sleep on the dock because of NCL's actions... Maybe an understanding of the facts would help you grasp the issue... NCL's incompetence has no relevance to what they later did by way of a humanitarian mission...

Nagledot what is safety at sea with one cat 5 storm in the Atlantic - Irma, another on its heels - Jose, and another in the gulf - Katia??? The authorities in FL were evacuating the local for days. I live in FL so I know this to be fact. The storm was very undecided where it was going. It seems as is NCL was looking out for your safety and ensuring you were able to get home while you could while the roads were still open, while there was still gas, while it was still safe for you to get to your home. I have been sailing with NCL for many, many years and have always been thanked for joining them. Maybe your complaints were louder than their thanks.

nangledot, your experience is 100% that which we endured.... just disgusting... We are Platinum with NCL and also stockholders, you can rest assured I'll be complaining at the end of our cruise season (which includes 2 more NCL cruises)..

Not a good representation of the company. Lack of care....not good

@LobsterPot, a user on this forum also experienced this. This 2nd account is unsettling while NCL is making press releases that it allowed such cruisers to escape on the Escape. Not good.

With Irma coming. That's just lack of concern for the passengers! I hope everyone made it out safely.
