Review summary

Overall good cruise, but it was also my first so I don't have much to compare it to. Majority of the staff was polite and patient...I enjoyed the events. The complaints I do have were minor and I still enjoyed myself.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Overall, I had a great time. However, I would have liked a more festive celebration when deporting...this was my first cruise and I always imagined it to be like on television, with balloons and confetti and loud fun music. It would really boost the excitement. If this was on the boat, I was not aware and could not find it.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was good. The drink glasses are a bit too small though...it's annoying to keep getting up for refills. Since everything on the buffet is free, why not make the cups larger portion? They seems like children's cups. Also, I love soda...but I had to go to the bar just for regular non-alcoholic soda drinks. It felt very inconvenient to wait in long lines for something so simple.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pool was closed on my last day of the cruise, with caution tape all around it. It was a major eye sore and very disappointing....especially because we could only be on the island's til late afternoon. I expect to have full access to all amenities for my ENTIRE trip duration. I feel there could have been more included in activities to include singles on board.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The performers were great, but a bit cheesy at times. I think performing causes the crowd to just gather and watch, instead of joining in. Perhaps they should come into the audience and get everyone excited.

Children's Programs

I did not bring any children on my trip.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
99% of the staff were very polite. However, there was one bartender that was extremely rude to me, who I feel discriminated against me. My friend and i were the only black people approaching the bar, he rudely told us to go to the end of a line...while white women walked right up to the front and got their drinks right away. He smiled and was very friendly with them. I confronted him and he tried to embarrass me in front of everyone, as if it didn't happen. I asked for a manager and he told me to go to guest services with a smirk. I did speak with a manager or supervisor from that area, who politely listened and sent me a special gift to my room. He also followed up with me later that night, personally. I was very impressed with the manager's genuine effort to help the situation. But I could not help but feel sad that this bartender had treated me so poorly. As a person of color, I do not want to be treated differently than others. My money is green just like everyone else and I paid for my trip fairly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Most things seemed quite clean, however, the pool towels were obviously old and a bit stained with yellow. Also, there were a can and cup in my hallway near the elevator for 2 days before someone removed it.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I liked the size inside the room itself, but the bathroom was very very tiny. Smaller than I expected. It was doable but I am a small woman so I fit easily. However, bigger people or broad men would probably have difficulty with the narrow shower. An upgrade would be nice...with the light fixtures, chair, and couch. They are getting a little out dated.

Ship tip

Enjoy your time when you dock on the islands, don't waste time shopping for free cheap gifts from the jewelers! Check out the small bars, my favorite spot was the Outrigger. Not many guests went in there, so it was very laid back and romantic. Also, be careful of the extra $18.99 service charge they add to your bill, per day! I feel that should be included with the package and not additional hidden fees.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
I only docked in Miami, I did not spend enough time to enjoy it there.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
I really liked this port, but would have liked a bit more direction on ideals of where to go and what to do. I felt a bit lost and overwhelmed when I got off the ship.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

5 out of 5
This was my favorite because it was more relaxing than the Nassau port and I couldn't get lost or feel afraid to be taken advantage of. I would like more activities and use of this island there...a little more development, but not so much that it ruins the laid back atmosphere.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Everything went smoothly...no complaints.
