I don't think I will cruise with NCL again. We took this cruise because it went to Cuba. I just returned last month from a Mediterranean cruise with Holland. That cruise was fresh in my mind and I compared the 2 cruises a lot. Loved Holland...NCL not so much.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
It went smoothly. We were very excited.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was alright. I am gluten free and the Crossing Restaurant Manager, Aynu took very good care of me. She made sure my food was gluten free. I like the all inclusive part of the cruise. I think that there should be a dress code for dinner. It doesn't have to be dressy, but not so casual.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We did not participate in the on-board activities since we were off the ship as much as possible.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The shows were okay. The piano bar singer was not very good. We did like the Dazzles Lounge entertainment.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
I didn't feel that the wait staff and the room stewards were very personable. I always connected with the staff on my other cruises, but not on NCL.
No information was given to us on the disembarkation process. I had to find out myself what to do. I turned on the NCL channel on TV to see if they had information on disembarking, and there wasn't anything on the information I needed. I wanted to know about the tags, when to put out the suitcases, and paperwork.
I just cruised to Alaska with Holland America last September and it wasn't just old people-it was a nice mix of people, all ages. Would definitely cruise with them again. Every aspect was stellar. ð
We sail the Sky for the first time in Sept (same itinerary as you) we sail NCL regularly; apparently the Sky 'booze cruise' is very different to regular NCL cruises... folks tell us we're too young yet (early 60s) for Holland American...
I wouldn't write NCL off based upon only the Sky...
