Review summary

The biggest issue I had aboard the ship was motion sickness. So I advise first time cruisers to take dramamine and wear those seasick wrist bands. I hear they help. In a smaller ship like the Norwegian Sky, you'll definitely feel the motion of the ocean. Overall we enjoyed our stay on the sky. Any issues we had were quickly resolved. Our safe wasn't working and they sent someone right away. Then they were doing some construction of some sort--we still don't quite understand why--but after we complained they gave us chocolate covered strawberries and earplugs for our troubles. Plus the construction stopped. The staff is friendly and on-point. They are always around to order drinks, food, answer questions or tell you the time. There aren't any clocks in the staterooms so it was easy to loose track of time. There was a wide variety of things to do on the ship both at night and during the day. Each room is provided with a detailed itinerary, so there's always some sort of entertainment. DJ Clipp was GREAT! Good music and friendly dude. Plus Richard our cruise director was Hilarious! They had a white party by the pool so if you are traveling on the Norwegian sky, make sure to pack something white. It's not required but fun nonetheless. Overall it was a good trip. It wasn't luxurious but good for the price we paid. You can tell where they tried to cut corners--same food at the breakfast buffet, and lunch. But it was all you can eat so we made due. Suggestions for future travelers:: pack an alarm/digital clock, something white and water bottles in your checked bags.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Same food always but it wasn't bad.

Entertainment

They provided a lot of things to do on the ship...some of it we enjoyed like the white party and kareoke. Other things like the country hoe-down and very off-key "latin" band left room for improvement lol

Children's Programs

Way too many kids in the pool.

Service and Staff

Very friendly helpful staff.

Ship Quality

THe ship was very clean and organized. We had to walk down an incredibly long hallway to get to our rooms from one end of the ship but on the flip side we were close to the pool and dining. The pool was decent sized, could have been bigger considering the layout of the deck. But way too many kids splashing around in there!

Cabin / Stateroom

No complaints about the rooms, they were comfortable and clean.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

By the time we got to Nassau I was super seasick and queasy. It was easter sunday so a lot of things were closed. The local beach was far and the market was very hot and muggy but we found some good souvenirs to bring back.
Don't Miss: The horse&carriage ride into the city was a lot of fun and Senor Frogs was a Blast!

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

It was fun! our view of the ocean was obstructed by the giant Hippo slide with the millions of kids, but we found a nice little spot in the shade under the palm trees and had a great time on this little island.
Don't Miss: limbo contest--we missed it and heard it was a blast lol

Pros: The ship was kept VERY clean and organized. Our inside staterooms were a comfortable size. The staff provided great service--they tended to all our needs and even made our drinks stronger if we thought they were weak lol. Plus there was always something to eat somewhere on the ship.

Cons: The breakfast buffet was always the same. Service at the sit-down restaurants was slowww. And you could DEFINITELY feel the motion of the ocean on the ship which made a first time cruiser like me pretty queasy at times. Also they closed down the pool and jacuzzi at night--womp womp NCL!

Recommends Norwegian Sky? No.
