I wouldn't choose this cruise again. Nice getaway but nothing special to do it again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Well organized and orderly. Embarkation was a breeze.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The buffet each day was repetitive, especially breakfast. The one at the very end of the ship on the outdoor patio didn't have many options but the line is shorter. All of the restaurants included in the price of the cruise were just so-so. We didn't opt for the specialty restaurants but probably should have.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Over crowded pools and jacuzzis. I didn't see anyone using the rock climbing walls and the fitness center treadmills face the side of the ship which is visually unappealing when trying to use.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Typical cruise entertainment. Nothing special to note.
Children's Programs
Didn't have children with us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Awesome and friendly staff. Our room steward, Loey was very attentive.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The Pearl is an older ship but in overall good shape.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Good size for 2 people max. Any more than that would be cramped.
Ship tip
Choose your own stateroom. If it is selected for you, NCL charges extra if you'd like to switch. We had 4 rooms and they were scattered all over the ship.
This port is just NCL's private island. A bunch of over priced shops and you have to pay extra for their activities. We didn't get to see anything in actual Belize. Very disappointed.
Not as good as the embarkation process. Instructions were given late in the evening prior so we had no time to pack and put our luggage out for pickup. We had to plug everything off the ship ourselves.
Sounds like you may have needed to do a little more research about the ports before the cruise. There are excursions to the mainland from harvest key if you want to see other things in Belize. There are lots of great things to do in Costa Maya outside the - Mayan Ruins tours, nice beach clubs, water park with zip lines, snorkeling, catamaran sails, etc. There is a shuttle to town and cabs just outside the port exit.
