Review summary

I always try to look on the positive side of things, but this trip truly made it difficult to do that. Was very disappointed in the food. And frustrated about purchasing a more expensive room to be able to take advantage of the specialty dining package and beverage package. Only to find out once we used our 1 meal that that was all we were allotted. The supervisors at customer service basically told us “oh well.” And wanted to dismiss our concerns and treated us like we were less than and weren’t very educated.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Nassau was pretty and relaxing. Not original stopping point.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The food was terrible. The specialty dining package is not a package. It is only 1 meal, so don’t be fooled by the word “package.” The worst part is the one restaurant we used our “package” on was the worst food in the ship. We could barely eat anything we ordered it was that bad. It wasn’t even the chef’s fault.. Terrible quality. I feel sick thinking about it. I will never chose Norwegian again for this reason.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Fitness Center was clean and well maintained. The Spa was decent but there were people right out in the open area getting facials done where everyone could see them. Awkward.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The Entertainers were the best part. They saved the trip for us.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Everyone was very friendly (with the exception of the supervisors at customer service).

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
On one floor you had to walk through the casino (very Smokey) to get through.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We bid on an upgraded patio room and were very happy with that part. It was great sitting out on the patio and relaxing.

Ship tip

Don’t plan on eating nice food.

Disembarkation

Quick and easy. But they didn’t give good instructions as where to go or when disembarkation actually began.

I noticed that alot of comments come from one experience rather choosing another ship. My first cruise was on carnival sensation. My room had no heat due to I cruised on my bday in January. It was a ruff ride due to waves. The food and entertainment was awful. Did that stop me to cruise again on carnival no. I just went bigger and newer. I love the Vista and will be traveling on horizon and Mardi gras. I also cruised on the Norweign Pearl and had a great time. Eating late at the irish pub and bowling. That is not one of there better boats. Try the Bliss or Joy or Escape and see the difference. I also cruise Royal and some ships are not that well but I enjoy the new amp ships. Lastly I been on a ship on Princess which was due for a dry dock upgrade. The moral on the boat suck. The food was bad. I cruised on the same ship a week after dry dock and a 100 percent turnaround. Food was awesome. The new beds was like heaven. The staff was so jazzed. So sometimes u get on a ship the wrong week. So give the company a chance and look at youtube videos. There is a couple who use to go only carnival. They tried their first cruise on Norweign didnt like as much. Than they did the Joy and its like they went to heaven.

On a 7 day you get 3 specialty dinners for the first 2 in your cabin. These are the scenarios I can come up with... You were on a really short cruise and really did only get one specialty dinner, had more than 2 passengers and used all of your allotment at one time or you visited a restaurant that you didn't know would use up your specialty dining.

Specialty dining packages are based on the length of the cruise. You must have had a short cruise. We are going on a 10 day cruise next year and have been allotted 5 specialty dinners.

We have always had great food there. Not sure what happened to you. Sorry about that. The meal packages spell out how many meals you get. Not sure where the confusion was I that one. My work perk gets me 2 specialty meals for the first 2 in our cabin. After that each person must pay.
