Review summary

We were happy that we upgraded our cabin and the servies that came with it. We especially enjoyed having breakfast and some lunches in El Bistro - it provided a quiet environment with pampering staff. We were also taken with the willingness of the staff to make our time on board very comfortable. Because the ship is older it needs refurbishing - cleaning up but we prefer the size of this ship to the much larger ones

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Most of the meals were well done . . . thought they could have done a better job with food on the upper deck late in the afternoon

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our Concierge did a good job of providing services and making sure we were comfortable. One of the head waiters was a huge help to me with food allergy problems. He went out of his way to work with the chef to provide meals that were safe for me to eat. The ship's staff was to be applauded!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
We liked the small size of the ship however the ships age was showing . . . needs to be redone. Public bathrooms did not always smell fresh.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our bedspread had a rip in it and the bathrooms never really smelled really fresh. We're glad we chose a suite for extra space. We liked being on the 9th deck.

Ports of call

Bar Harbor, Maine

3 out of 5
Enjoyed the bus ride to Acadia National Park and the lobster dinner afterwards. Bar Harbor is beautiful and inviting.

Saint John, New Brunswick

We enjoyed the museum providing background for the Bay of Fundy and the boat ride to the falls. Wish we had been able to go further up where the tides are the most extreme.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
We enjoyed visitng Peggy's Cove . . . it's beauty was rugged and breathtaking. Would like to go back to Halifax and spend more time.

Boston, Massachusetts

3 out of 5
We did a bus tour of some of the city plus a duck boat ride. The Boston port was my least favorite perhaps because there just isn't enough time to really dig in.

Pros: The staff

Cons: The shipboard shops
