Norwegian Jewel Cruise Reviews - Q&A

3.7
we are considering our first Alaska cruise on this ship. We have previously cruised on royal and loved it, and we cruised on carnival and don't care for it. Would this be a good ship to try?

it's not an exciting ship, but it gets the job done for Alaska. Has a pretty good observation area in the front, especially within the spa area. A few decent specialty restaurants to try..I loved the french...disliked the Italian..and hated the steakhouse... if the price is right and its a good one way itinerary its a good choice. of course Princess and Holland America are the best choices in Alaska because of their permits for glacier Bay.

if you're a Royal fan, you should do Celebrity. it won't be that much more

My family and I really enjoyed this ship. It is an easy to navigate size. The Spinnaker lounge was a great place to watch things outside. There are plenty of outdoor spaces to view the scenery from as well, if you can brave the temps.

Personally I liked the itinerary on this ship the most, which for other ships you’d need an extra day and are more costly. But I think you can’t go wrong with Holland America or Caribbean

We've cruised on the Jewel twice and loved it. We're going again in Sept. 2024 to Alaska. If you're wondering about food, Cagney's steak restaurant and the Brazilian restaurant are outstanding. Not comparable to NCL's bigger ships, but it's the only option for the full coast cruise. I have no complaints.

When it comes to Alaska, Princess and Holland America is probably your best bet. The reason for that is they have been going there longer than all the other cruise lines and gets access to environmentally sensitive areas where some other cruise lines don’t get approval to go there all the time.

Im not a fan of this ship and her sisters in this class. You get the one way itinerary but for me there just aren't a lot of the fun entertainment venues like on NCL's Bliss and Encore that does the round trip out of Seattle. But it's just my personal preference.

We are sailing on jewel this June Seward to vancouver. looking forward to it. long port times and long daylight hours. recently sailed on her this past February. not the greatest layout but it works. not worried about entertainment. the observation lounge in front will be a plus. lots of deck space to look at scenery.
