they rotate the ship so you can see from both sides, but its much better to go out on the open decks. relying on your balcony for sightseeing in Alaska really cuts your chances of seeing wildlife and the sites.

it's true what he says. also, when you are in a public area, everybody starts to yell out when they see something swimming, running, or flying
