Review summary

miami is a very congested port. The ship lacked music venues- more geared to silly games than sophisticated music. Was lucky we we warned to book restaurants and shows in advance. The last sea day the pool was booked as people left their towels on chairs for the day. I have to say the food in the restuarants was very good and Tropicana is a hidden gem with music or dance show nightly. The specialty are probably not worth the extra unless you get bored with eating at the 6 or so available for free. Glad we had the drink package or it adds up. The steward was horrible and even realized when we woke up the first morning we had dirty sheets. no apologies from anyone- but we insisted the room get scrubbed. Also the lack of dress code is disturbing cruising used to be such a fun experience

herbert was the worst steward ever. the room was dirty and everyday it was missing something

get reservations for specialty and shows. The main dining doesn't honor the reservation

I just got off the Getaway, and it was fabulous! The music was great! If it is more sophisticated music you want, NCL, Carnival, or even RCCL is not for you! You better try Holland America and Celebrity. I go on a cruise to have fun, and I'm not a 20, 30, 40, or even a 50 year old! I am a 63 retired professional woman that happens to love to get up and dance and have fun, and, yes, partake in silly games. I'm not blasting you for your comments, but I am telling you that you should investigate and review cruise lines before booking so you know what you are getting. I have cruised three other cruise lines before I cruised with NCL. I did extensive research to find the perfect ship,,and the Getaway checked all the boxes!

Sounds like you need to figure out your type of cruise. It's not a 5 star resort and not everything will be perfect! Don't worry about what everyone else is wearing and worry about what you wear! Boom

We sailed on the getaway last year and going again this year. We had an awesome time, no complaints here, but then we make a good time all the time. Life is to short to waste time complaining

definitely a party boat. very few activities available during days at sea. I just moved towels if left for a long time. food was just ok seemed to repeat constantly.

Causal dining is a plus. Travelling with a suit is a pain in the neck!

Royal Caribbean and Princess are geared more to what you want. I have never had dirty sheets, that's disgusting. Was in Princess for my 1st cruise and leaving in September on my 7th with Royal. I have heard a lot of horror stories about NCL, but some good. Try Royal next time ð

What ship? I mean Carnival and NCL are geared to be affordable. Not exactly aimed towards the highest class. So silly entertainment and lack of dress code may be a issue for some. I mean not myself. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your cruise.
