Review summary

NCL as a company has the most INEPT and INSUFFICIENT COMMUNICATIONS EVER! There was NO announcement about skipping the Charleston, SC port. The announcement for skipping the Great Stirrup Cay port came AFTER we had done a U-turn in the ocean, and were headed back for another 3 days on the water (after already having 2 - for a total of 5 days out of a 7-day cruise!). The captain and others knew in advance what the conditions were like and could have primed the customers about the possibility long before we got there and made the U-turn. And as other customers questioned at the main desk: What about Nassau? What about Freeport? We don't know anything about whether or not they tried to make substitutions to make the trip worth it for us. But what really rubbed lots of us the wrong way was that the main desk representatives were arrogantly adamant that "we're not doing anything," when customers asked about gratuitous wifi or a meal in a specialty restaurant or even a complimentary drink to soften the blow of the disappointment. They persisted and we got nothing! Suffice it to say I am done with NCL!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
I like the efficiency of being tested for covid prior to embarking, and the ease of it all, including getting onboard and finding our stateroom.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was EXCELLENT with so many choices at every meal that it was almost impossible to choose what to eat in some cases. I didn't dine in any of the specialty restaurants; the reason will be disclosed later.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The onboard activities were good, although the weather prohibited such things as rock climbing, which is located outdoors. The fitness center is great, and the jacuzzis are great, if you can find a time to get in.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The crew is soooooo talented and the shows were phenomenal. You can tell that they all tried hard to keep us entertained, despite a disappointing trip that resulted in 5 of the 7 days being spent on the water instead of the port itinerary.

Children's Programs

I don't have and didn't bring any children on board.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We were SO VERY GRATEFUL to the service staff for the dining rooms and for our room steward, Petter, and so many other persons we met -- Fedelius, Carla, Jeffrey, Angelo, the "coffee ladies" :), the crew of Grand Pacifica -- really EVERYONE and they all deserve a big THANK YOU. We tried to communicate that to everyone we saw before we left the boat.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It's a beautiful ship and clearly there was meticulous thought about its design and its ability to provide comfort.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
We enjoyed the balcony and the ability to see outside as we sailed. The room is, in plain English, just too small, especially since there was no space for storage of suitcases. Rather the little walking space we had was cluttered with the luggage. It was clean and comfortable so we made the best of it.

Ship tip

Try another cruise company.

Ports of call

New York, New York

1 out of 5
I live in NYC and did not need an excursion for the city I love.

Port Canaveral, Florida

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
It was disorganized. There was an unexplained long wait to leave the ship. At times it seemed no one was in charge to order the sequence of how things should commence, so instead of leaving at 7:30am as we planned, we didn't physically step away until about 8:45am.
