Review summary

I didn't get off ship because of mask policy.Spent a lot of time in the thermal spa.

wow. I didn't realize that the islands would let people walk around without masks. I wouldn't of left the ship either. I've been on the Gem a half a dozen time and I find your report strange. 1) you complain about it not being a luxurious ship, but in the same review, you say the food a the buffet (what I call the food trough,) was not good. I cannot imagine anyone expecting luxury going to the buffet. In 6 visits to the Gem I have never eaten in the food trough. 2) In 6 visits, I have never turned on a TV on a cruise. What possible reason would I be in my room watching TV on a cruise? I have cruised on several ships, Including Norwegian's bigger ships, and RC, and Carnival. The Gem in terms of luxury put all of the others to shame. I'm interested in seeing if the Gem holds up against Viking or Cunard, but the Gem far exceeds in luxury for the more middle class cruisers than any other ship I have been on. One look at the theater could tell you that.

I love the Gem but haven’t been on in a while, going back on in January. Sorry your experience wasn’t as good as it could have been, maybe still working out some kinks after “restart”. What was the mask mandate? What Islands?
