Review summary

Excellent cruise except for embarkation. Crew was kind and helpful. Ports were good except Costa Maya which was very crowded. We were in port with the Allure. Loved, loved, loved the room!! and the Haven restaurant.

Embarkation

Horrible organization. First, waited an hour just to get to the drop off zone. Then no porters around to take luggage. I'm in the Haven so I asked my partner to wait in the very long line while i see if they have a special line for us. I asked and took her out of line only to be told to get back into line again. After a bit of a fuss on my part, they let us thru. Worse embarkation in all of my 20 cruises. We left 4-5 hours late which meant the ship was at traveling fast making the evening very rough, even though the seas weren't. I'll never go out of New Orleans again!

Food was great in the Haven restaurant and the specialty ones. Not so great the one night we ate in the Manhattan. Dinner came out luke warm and could use seasoning. Also, missed having lobster night.

Comedy Shows booked up very early (before 7am) and even though I was in the Havens, I still couldn't go. But, the entertainment I did see was excellent, especially the dueling pianos.

First time in a suite and it was amazing!!! Especially loved being in the back of the ship. When it was windy out, it was still very comfortable sitting on our deck.

This wasn't the Gem, it was the Breakaway. Sign up for comedy shows first thing when you wake up.

Glad you had a good time! But I believe you reviewed the wrong ship. Because I don't think there is a Manhattan dining room on the Gem. Or duelling pianos. Weren't you on Breakaway?

We are do in the Haven in January for the Panama canal we love the Haven that's why we do it
