Review summary

As I transition from a party animal cruiser into a mellow laid back foodie cruiser in my older age.. I have experienced a learning curve in my cruising style. That being said, the Escape is still a spectacular experience. The specialty dining is absolutely out of this world good. Bayamo was in a league of its own, providing exceptional service and delightful foods. Moderno was absolutely delightful along with Cagneys and LaCucina as well. The level of service in these specialty restaurants was 5 stars and in my opinion the food was spectacular. The main dining room experiences were also great, though a step down from the specialty dining experiences still spectacular. I chose the $20 upcharge filet mignon option at the main dining restaurant and it was worth it. I recommend opting for premium plus as you are treated extra special, receive seemless Wi-Fi, bottled water and the “Starbucks” on board is spectacular with amazing coffee and lattes. The hot chocolate is really good there also. The ship is very clean and everything is in immaculate condition just like the day this ship started sailing 8 years ago. The bars were all wonderful and the service at These bars very good. The on board entertainment was something I struggled with a bit, but managed just fine. The rock and roll group at syd Norman’s was very good. The cruise director Jeff was really cool and I liked him. Going back to the food, the garden buffet was really exceptional as well. The breakfast and lunch were outstanding. The deserts and treat’s absolutely delightful. The staff in this buffet were amazing and they even provided some drink service at times. The morning table side coffee service was especially nice. Ice cream machines were open and performing at an elite level

Pretty smooth. Was on the ship for lunch. Bags arrived to the stateroom a little before dinner time.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Specialty dining was spectacular and the service in these venues was 5 star’s fantastic. Bayamo, Moderno, Cagneys and LaCucina were my favorites. Bayamo being the best despite not being a seafood eater I loved it. Main dining rooms were excellent as well and the buffet was incredible as always. The main dining rooms now allow you to have filet mignon, ribeye or NY strip for a reasonable upcharge. Went with this one night and it was worth it. Bar service was outstanding as usual throughout the ship. Some were better then others but it was great everywhere

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment was plentiful but not all my style. Choir of man was great but I just wasn’t feeling it. The rock and roll band at Syd Normans was fantastic. The live lounge music was sub par. Dueling pianos was good. Comedy was pleasant. Was in bed early most nights this cruise so can’t speak to the nightlife much but from what I saw it wasn’t the greatest

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Beautiful cabin. Extremely quiet and peaceful. Room steward polite, tentative and efficient. Was very pleased with this stateroom. It’s a bit far out of the way, but it was very peaceful and quiet. Probably the quietest, most private cabin I’ve ever had.

Ship tip

Utilize specialty dining multiple nights at multiple restaurants. Splurge for premium plus
