Review summary

Overall, we had a great time on our trip. It was nice being able to cruise again knowing everyone on-board was vaccinated. We also enjoyed the ports and the safety protocols in place especially while visiting other countries. Finally spending time with family and love ones is always a bonus.

Outstanding

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Superb, the staff took extra care of guest even with strict guidelines due to the pandemic

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Thermal spa, arcade, pools, hot tubs, trivia, bingo to name a few. There was so much to do on board to ensure no one was board. My family and I enjoyed our entire trip.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw shows i.e. the Choir of Men, comedians and art shows.

Children's Programs

Do not have children under the age of 17, my youngest child is 23 years old

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiters, stewards, butlers and the entire staff was outstanding. They took such great care of us and ensured everyone was obeying safety protocols by washing their hands and ultimately being safe.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
One of the main reasons I chose Norwegian over other cruise line. They required staff and guest to be 100% vaccinated. Ensured everyone washed their hands and those who chose to wear a mask on board, they required 2-3 layer mask. When we went ashore they provided N95 masks to ensure everyone was safe. The staff was constantly cleaning and sanitizing the ship making sure everyone felt safe.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My room was Haven 2 Bed/Bath and is the room I typically choose because I travel with my children and do not want to share a bathroom. Overall the room was superb, the staff was outstanding and very accommodating.

Ship tip

Patience during embarking/debarking due to pandemic. Everyone is doing their best and want to ensure you are safe. Having your required documents i.e. passport, vaccine cards, and proof of Covid-19 test will speed up the wait times.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
We only visited this port during embarking/debarking. We took pictures of the NASA station which we could see from the ship. However, we did stay the night in Coco Beach at a Days Inn on route 524 prior to embarking and the room was horrible i.e. floors sticky, carpet dirty and overall not clean (see review on Wyndham Hotel)

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
I love Cozumel especially the tequila factory. Overall, it is a good place to visit, many of the excursions and reasonably priced and there is always something to do here with/without an excursion. They were hit hard due to the pandemic (no ships for 10+ months) so the prices are a little high which is expected. Many of the vendors are willing to negotiate and if you believe the price is too much walk away; there are more shops along the way.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

We visited two areas the Taj Mahal and the Blue Hole with a stop at the market there are only a few places cruise guests are allowed to visit because of the pandemic. The vendors are aggressive and the merchandise is overpriced which was expected because of current events. They will try to separate you if you are in a group (claiming it is due to Covid ) do not buy it; this is a game to get you to spend money. Remember the vendors are skilled and will do their best to get you to spend more than you intended. They will give each of you a different price claiming you are getting a deal...this is not true and is why they will try to separate you by yourself or with one other person. The best advice I can give is have a price in your mind of what you are willing to spend and do not go over it. Use cash if possible, but if you do use a card do not fall for they have to pay extra remember they are in business and paying for the card reader/machine and associated fees is part of their overhead expense and not your problem to bear. Finally be willing to walk away, most vendors will come after you and offer a better deal because they do not want the money to walk away; if they do not come after you then go to another vendor because you really did not need it and there are plenty of vendors.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

5 out of 5
We had a villa and it was amazing. If you can afford the extra expense it is definitely worth it. You are given wrist bands to access the villas and therefore able to come and go to the main beach as much as you choose. The excursions, entertainment and vendors are on the main island. So if you have an excursion or want to play games, listen to music or purchase snorkel gear or souvenirs you should do this prior to going to the villas. The villas are designed of the ultimate relaxation. There is a spa, restaurant and welcome center for villa guest; there is also a walking trail (we did not partake) and other relaxing events. The vendors are willing to negotiate but not much because it is Norwegian's private island. So you may end up walking away because there is not much wiggle room.
