Review summary

Great cruise. Captain was very clear about weather conditions (had to pass through remains of tropical storm first night). If you're hesitant about going to Bermuda the end of October, don't be. The weather there was in the mid 70s, sunny with low humidity. Perfect. Relax and enjoy.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It took about 40 minutes from the time we got to the terminal to boarding the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Ate at Manhattan Room, Taste & Savor, as well as Cagney's & La Cucina. Food was hot when served & what was ordered. We've enjoyed the specialty restaurants since long before Free At Sea was a promotion. I love the promotion, but it has taken some of the "special" out of the specialty restaurants. It's very loud & is more rushed in order to accommodate all the guests who wish to eat there

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Played mini-golf, but mostly people watched - always good entertainment. Cruise director Jacky was always out & about.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Chose not to see any of the shows this time. Guitar player Orly Prenate was good. Justin Golan in The District Brewhouse was awesome! It is definitely for adults only & if you are offended by adult humor don't go, but otherwise check him out. He also provided entertainment in the Atrium that was PG.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The crew is awesome. Always friendly and helpful. How the wait staff can handle all those people day in & day out is beyond me. Our room steward Ian was very efficient and friendly & took great care of us.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was our 3rd time on Escape and we've been on Breakaway several times so we know the layout well. Staff is constantly cleaning public areas. The ship looks great at 4 years old.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We tried the sail away deal for the first time so we didn't pick the cabin but it was fine. Forward, almost under the bridge. Plenty of storage for 2 adults, room to spare.

Ship tip

Relax & enjoy. See it for yourself. Any vacation is all about what you make it & what your expectations are. While large ships aren't for everyone, if you're going to try one Escape is great. They really do have one of the most friendliest crews aboard.

Ports of call

New York, New York Did not visit port

Arrived at Penn Station and went straight to terminal

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

Love Bermuda and the fact you get to stay there for a few days. Shopkeepers very friendly and welcoming, offering several recommendations for things to see & do on the island. Will have to go several more times to fit it all in :)

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Self walk off. Started when it was supposed to. Facial recognition in customs makes the process even faster. Taxi situation was a nightmare but that has nothing to do with NCL so won't lower the score because of it.
