Review summary

There’s a lot of people on the ship yes however is a very large ship and your vacation like everything in life will depend on how you go about it. So enjoy!

Embarkation

Security was a breeze, then put into a line based on your deck which took about 30 mins even though only about 30-40 people ahead of us. They have to take everyone’s pic and my guess is it would go faster if everyone printed their docs beforehand. The awesome part was we were handed a group boarding card which was 33 and they were calling group 11 when we got through at 11:45am. So we sat down and looked out at the Intrepid and 5 mins go by and a guy who works there saw us sitting there and asked what group we were and we said 33, he then said is everyone here and let us board. That was nice, except one persons card in our party didn’t swipe and he had to walk back 100 yds to fix it. No biggie though

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was execeptional! Cagneys 2x, ribeye was the best, la cucina was excellent, le bistro was fabulous too as was the Buffett. Ate at Taste once and it was very good (nothing great like the specialty dining but very good). Moderno was very good but glad we only did it once, meat was a bit salty because they are slow cooked. Le bistro which is their flagship restaurant is also the smallest and has no view but that’s ok. The wine steward in Le Bistro was not enthusiastic about his job, we tried to get him to warm up by asking about him but he said he signed a 7 month contract and they asked him to stay another month so he was on his 8th month and couldn’t wait to get off the ship. He wasn’t bad just tired of the grind I guess. It didn’t bother us and all other staff were great. Ps the hash brown patties in the Buffett were amazing, like a knish almost if you’ve ever had them.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Was the pool crowded? Absolutely, in fact we didn’t get near it. It definitely had a mtv spring break look about it with lots of people shoulder to shoulder drinking a lot. Not my scene anymore so the kids did mini golf, the ropes course which they loved and the water slides which were great but had long lines and sometimes weird hours even though weather was perfect. Fitness center great, spa didn’t do bc it was way overpriced.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Choir of man was fantastic. Tip-get there early as the set is a pub and the cast invites anyone to come on stage and have a beer. Yes the kegs are real and so is the beer, they handed out free draft beer and mingled with guests for 20 mins before starting and people took there beers back to their seats when it started. Bingo was good, music by pool was cranking but we weren’t there anyway except to walk past to get to ropes course. Lounge singers by casino were pretty good.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Ok here is where this cruise shined and we weren’t expecting it. The splash academy children’s program was absolutely fantastic. The staff all had names like wolverine, liquid, sunshine etc. our five-year-old daughter wanted to spend as much time there as possible. And it was all included in the price unless it was after 10:30 PM it was six dollars an hour, every night they had themes and at the end they had a circus play that was in the main theater that was awesome. Again absolutely wonderful

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the staff we encountered were very nice, our room steward was great, we would push the button to make up the room go eat breakfast come back and it was made, we had towel animals turned out every night he did a great job. All the staff were pushing the comment cards to get filled out which obviously Norwegian places a large emphasis on but that’s not a problem considering they provided exceptional service.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship had a great layout, everything is happening on deck 6, 7, 8 Or 14-16. The ship was very clean, yes you could detect a smoky smell by the casino, but that didn’t bother us as it was just a smell and not actual smoke in our faces even though you can smoke in a small part of the casino.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were in a midship balcony suite on deck 14, we had the pulldown bunkbed which the kids loved the big bathroom was fantastic the beds were actually really comfy and the linen was nice, the only the detractor I’d say was the TV had about 10 channels for the ship, then BBC, MSNBC, CNBC, and one sports channels that seem to always be playing rugby. There were two channels that played main stream shows one with the TV shows the other it was relatively new movies but it lacked a little for entertaining kids When we were in the room.

Ship tip

Make any specialty dining reservations as early as possible before your cruise at least three months out to get the time that you want, and once on board the ship right away book what shows you want to see you so you can get the times you would like

Ports of call

New York, New York Did not visit port

Live there.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

Incredibly beautiful the whole thing is set up for entertaining the two ships that are important so you have this little village that’s got everything you need with in walking distance, there are also lots of activities and rentals and taxis right there as well

Disembarkation

A massive long line to get off the ship however it moves very quickly and we only stood in the line for about 20 minutes then another line in customs was quite long however if you grab a porter he takes your luggage and get you to the front of the line
