Review summary

All in all, this was the vacation of a lifetime. If you can afford the upgrade to The Haven, I highly recommend it. It would not have been the same vacation if we had not upgraded.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It was so smooth. No lines to wait in and room was ready when we got on the ship. We got to the port around 12:30PM.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The Haven restaurant was excellent for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Teppanyaki, Le Bistro, La Cucina, and Margaritaville were also excellent. The buffet in the main part of the ship was mediocre.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pools were completely covered with people most days at sea. The Haven pool was easy to access and not so crowded, but it gets hot since there is no breeze to come across you in the room. The slides in the main part of the ship were so fun and lines were never very long.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

5 out of 5
From the Dockyard, you can go anywhere. We jumped on the public bus the first day (a very cheap and easy to navigate alternative to cab fare) and rode all the way to Hamilton then changed buses and rode to the Crystal Cave, lunch at the Swizzle Inn, and rode on to St George. Then got the ferry back from St George. Guys played golf the second day, girls went to Horseshoe Beach...all on the bus. Then we did do an excursion the third day. The dockyard has tons of stuff to do too...shopping, dining, history. It's all there!

How much you think I should put on my bid to get the haven. If I’m goin in September

Are the emails to bid up offered to bookings made through a travel agent or just bookings made through NCL? Wondering if that's why I've never been offered a bid. This is my 5th cruise on NCL & never offered to bid on an upgrade.

I would love love love to try to bid up to the Haven from a balcony, but I'm a solo cruiser and it seem sort of selfish to have all that just to myself. I've never gotten an email offer to bid up anyway, so probably isn't something I should worry about.

They will email you with an offer to bid on an upgrade and you can also log into my ncl and it will be in your messages. Not everyone gets the email but I’m hoping that since we have bid and won an upgrade that they will send it again. We are sailing on the Sun next weekend and they offered the bid upgrade but we didn’t bid.

Staying in the haven is on my bucket list. I’ve never heard of a bid upgrade. Didn’t know that was a thing!! Maybe I’ll keep my eye out for my Mediterranean cruise and make the change!!

Love the Haven. Waiting for the bid upgrade email so we can bid up to the Haven again. The only bad part about the Haven is that it spoils you For every other cruise.
