Disappointed

This is the first and the last time we will cruise Norwegian.  

We could not believe the lack of service we received.  We were on a 7 day cruise.  The very first time any wait staff asked to take our drink order was on day 6!!!!  Here are some examples of lack of service and the unwillingness of staff to wait on us. We sat down in the Bliss Lounge, the waitress looked at us then walked away quickly, never came by the entire time we were there to ask if we needed or wanted anything.  Headliners, same thing except there were 2 that looked right at us and walked away.  While sitting on the decks outside no one came by.  It was so strange.  We have only cruised Carnival before and the service on Carnival is awesome and what we expected on Norwegian.  I would have rather used my mandatory tip expense on those who actually were helpful.

The food was not good at the buffet.  The salad dressing and sauces were thin and watery.  The desserts tasteless. (Good news:  I did not gain any weight on the cruise) The Ranch salad dressing had a bitter taste to it. My husband did like the breakfast served and thought the omelets were delicious.  We enjoyed our first dinner in the Manhattan Room.  The food was good (New York Strip) and the service was fairly good.  We went to Taste one night.  We sat and waited over an hour and our food still hadn't arrived.  We watched people who were seated after us finish their meals and leave.  We decided to leave and not wait any longer.

The specialty restaurants are supposed to be very good.  Although, if you do not have a reservation it is nearly impossible to get a table.  We enjoyed the shows.  Burn the Floor and Priscilla were excellent.  The comedians were very entertaining.  We also enjoyed listening to Pablo sing and play guitar.  

The cabin design is a bit strange but we didn't mind it.  The round bed is short so your feet may hang over the edge.  The shower and water closet are not see through as some have stated.  They are frosted glass and you can barely see the shadow of the person while they are in there.  There is also a curtain, for extra privacy, between the shower/water closet side and the bed and sofa side. 

Our steward, Junmar, was THE BEST steward we ever had.  He was very attentive and very pleasant.  

My husband and I had a lot of fun at the 80's night party singing and dancing.

The stop in St. Thomas was entirely too short and we had no time to do the things we wanted.  Our excursion was to include a tour at Blackbeard's Castle but we were not able to go in because only 8 people are allowed at a time.  The line was at least 40 deep and we had 45 minutes to get back to the ship.  

We were so excited for this cruise.  I am disappointed that we used a week of vacation and spent our money on this cruise.  I know we would have had better food and service elsewhere.  

Thankfully my husband and I know how to have fun and that we did.  And, I am thankful my husband was my personal waiter for the week...if only someone waited on him.
