Review summary

Our time spent on the Encore was very enjoyable. It is a beautiful new ship with plenty to do. One of our favorite spots was the Observation lounge with its abundance of windows and it’s location at the front of the ship. Unfortunately, due to weather we didn’t get to enjoy much of the outdoor amenities that it had to offer.

We ate in the main dining room Taste. The surf and turf was excellent. The Garden Cafe buffet had a huge selection of foods. There was something for everyone and the quality was very good. I particularly liked the self serve Starbucks machine.

Onboard Activities

Being in NY in November outdoor activities were limited. We were able to take a spin on the go karts though which were so much fun. The indoor Galaxy Pavilion was a good place to take the fun indoors. Here we were able to enter a virtual world and ride the Hot Wheels track and hang glide. There were many other VR experiences available as well.

Really enjoyed the interactive Choir of Man show and Kinky Boots. A very talented group!

Service and Staff

The staff were all very nice. Our only “incident” was that we requested an iron and ironing board be brought to our room one night and it never arrived. We later saw one sitting outside the cabin next to us and asked the room steward if we could borrow it. We were told that it was too late; that irons and ironing boards were only available to borrow between the hours of 9 am and 9 pm and only for 1 hour. This was a bit disappointing.

Overall we were very happy with our room. The room was fairly spacious. We loved the private balcony (even though it was too cold to spend much time on it). The double sink was great as was the water pressure!! Loved the 6 jets In the shower in addition to the shower head. The bed was comfortable. The only drawbacks were that the hairdryer was permanently attached under the counter near the mirror but the cord was too short which made it difficult to use. There was no iron or ironing board in the room and the safe was a bit small.
