Review summary

This was our first time cruising on NCL, having cruised 9 previous times on Holland America. "Freestyle" cruising was an incentive for us to book this cruise as well as the destination,(Canada, Nova Scotia) The food was a very big disappointment. It was served cold & poorly prepared. Breads & pastries were cold & stale. Ice cream had chunks of ice in it, eggs were cold & watery. The ship itself was clean and adequate but we found it was very difficult to get around, to reach some areas it was necessary to go outdoors as not all elevators accessed to top floors.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was poorly prepared and served cold. We ate in Le Bistro several times expecting better quality but it was mediocore especially for the additional cost. Freestyle seatings were good & convienent. Often what appeared on the posted menu earlier in the day was different at meal time.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was very good. O'Shaunessy and a piano player named Danielle were exceptional

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Staff was pleasant & a waitress named Ramona was especially pleasant and accommodating but we were not always fortunate enough to sit in her section.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was clean but on 2 occasionsI found a public bathroom in need of cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Stateroom was clean & comfortable. We had an outside cabin. The shower was very small in size but managable.

Took a walking tour of downtown area. Ate Lobster on West Street---excellent. Unfortunately, it was misty & foggy that day ( a hurricane was heading that way!). The ship tendered & the tender ride was rocky but that could'nt be helped!
