Great service! Small ship! Completely waisted 1400$ on drink packages and we barley even had any alcoholic beverages. Spent 30$ on bottles of water instead. That was a huge disappointment. Overall great trip, however bc of drink pkg way too expensive!

Ship tip

Do not purchase the drink package if you are traveling with children or if you don’t consume at least 10 drinks a day! Not worth it. I only had one drink a day! What a waste of money! Wish I had it back.

Thanks for sharing your cruise with us.

I have been telling my husband as well , I don't believe we would drink as much . My mother in law who cruise often has told us that it will be a waste as well.

If you had picked the drink package as your free at sea option you would have paid about $125 each for the required gratutities. So the cost of a drink a day. Much better value than choosing one of the other options.

Only do the UBP if it is included in the cruise and you are just paying gratuities on it.

Why would you buy the drink package for all that money if you were only going to have 1 drink?

mdgodwin    6 years ago

I always choose the alcohol package as my free upgrade and only pay about 134 for the taxes and gratuities on it. We had unlimited drinks all day and night.

Not to be rude, but why would you buy the drink package if you were not going to use it. The drinks were about 9-10$ each. You would have spent $140 . Was there an issue on board? Service??

Never paid that much

It's definitely not worth it if you're only going to have 1 drink per day.

We always use the promo too. We aren't big drinkers, but it is one less thing to worry about paying for at the end. We are doing Carnival next year and plan to just alot so much each day. We rarely have time for two drinks on a port day, let alone 15.

shawdes29    6 years ago

I always pick the drink package as part of the promo. $79 a day is absurd. Even Carnivals drink package is only $50. Comes to roughly $800 total for two on a 7 day

montanaman    6 years ago

We never buy the NCL drink package. At 79 a day plus 20% gratuities makes about 96 a day. We don't even choose it as a perk in the promo because you still have to pay the 20% gratuity on the "free" drinks. When we figure the increased cost of paying for a room that includes the perk plus paying the 20% gratuity we come out ahead just spending the 70 or 80 dollars a day on drinks. You also have to calculate port days were you may not be buying nearly as many drinks from the ship. Everyone has to make their own calculations but for us it does not make financial sense.

I thought at first that didn't add up, but at just under $90 per person per day plus the gratuities it's sure enough right at $1400 for a 7 day cruise for two! We've been able to get the UBC as part of a promo and never really priced it out. We're not big drinkers at all, but it is convenient and it covers a bunch of non-alcoholic stuff too. As long as we can get it on a promo we'll continue to get it.

Unless you are a big drinker, the NCL drink package isn't worth it; it's very expensive.

Your drink package was $700 each?

debbiegagnon    6 years ago

Why did you only have one a day? Was there a problem with service in getting them.
