From the 14th of August until the 18th, the cruise was almost a nightmare, thanks to the injury to my left wrist.

This is the second time I am writing this review. Perhaps NCL does not like to post reviews that are as harsh as this one, but they deserve to be severely critiqued after what happened on my cruise of August 11-18, 2017. My group was dining in the Venetian restaurant on the evening of August 14, 2017. Upon sitting, I noticed that my chair was too far from the table to dine comfortably. I reached down to lift the chair and pull it forward, but immediately noticed that the chair was EXTREMELY HEAVY! The pain in my left wrist was immediate, and got worse while dining. After the meal, I went to "sick-bay", where someone who called himself a "doctor" took an x-ray. As soon as he rendered his diagnosis of my injury, I knew he could not be a real physician. He said it was "tendonitis"...which just happens to be an injury caused by overuse of the affected muscle. I know, because I once had it in my right elbow...about 50 years ago! "Doc" gave me some pills to take...without asking if I was taking any other medication. VERY professional (hear the sarcasm?)...NOT. Perhaps the worst part of the incident was what happened afterwards. They handed me a bill for $323.50...and demanded payment on the spot. It was charged to my American Express card. When I got home...with the wrist still in pain... I called Amex and contested the charge. NCL objected, and then LIED when they claimed that I had not filed my complaint when I was on the ship. THAT was a lie, too, and there are witnesses who were there at the time. I can accept mistakes because all of us make them. However, I cannot accept outright lies...ever. Mind you, the food was excellent, and the wait-staff was very good. If it were not for this incident I would have given this ship 4 or 5 stars. But blatant dishonesty combined with their own negligence regarding the heavy chairs is the main reason why it will be a cold day in Hades before I ever step foot on their ships again!

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

I also Don't understand how you think posting your complaint on a 3rd party app will do anything to help you. This app is not run by NCL!

Where you still sitting on the chair while trying to pull it towards the table? If so that is your own negligence not the ships. You lied to Amex if you told them it was the ships fault

Sick bay on a ship is always payment on the spot and the you can bill your insurance company. Sounds like a self-inflicted injury, not sure why any of this is Norwegian’s fault. Just curious, what medical school did you go to?

I think I'm missing something. How did you hurt your wrist?

seattlerocks    6 years ago

This is not the fault of the cruise line, it's not like something fell on you. Thousands of other people pulled their chairs in that night at dinner. If I am injured on a cruise ship, I can expect to pay a lot to have it taken care of.

I am sorry for your experience. I agree the $323 was extreme. However it sounds like an accident. Hope your next cruise goes better. That is the good thing about shipmate you can get your word out. Good luck!

Ridiculous to blame them for heavy chairs. Bet you would have complained if they were too light!! We all have hurt ourselves doing something. It's not the ships fault. It's called life.
