Review summary

Bad weather made the trip down bumpy and wet so on-deck activities were limited.  Bermuda was great as usual although our stay was cut a bit short due to routing around a storm.  Recently renovated, the Dawn is a fine choice with a maximum of about 2,300 passengers.  Crew were friendly but not as attentive as those on other cruises we have taken.  The food in the specialty restaurants and dining rooms was quite good.  The cafe was, as is the case on other cruise ships, a bit of a zoo but the food was good.  Our major issue is smoking being allowed in the casino which spilled over into a lounge that we otherwise enjoyed.  NCL should ban smoking except in interior spaces reserved for the purpose and properly ventilated or specific areas on deck.  Otherwise we were quite satisfied with the experience and would do it again.  One last comment is about the "art" is the Venetian which presents defaced art as "art".   We disagree!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Cagney's was excellent, the Bistro a bit of a disappointment, O'Sheehan's was rather ordinary, main dining rooms were very good

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Enjoyed the trivia, particularly the music related sessions. Often the session in Gatsby's were over-subscribed. Would be better to have them in Bliss where there is a lot more room/

Entertainment

Shows ere typical of this size ship...fair. Musi in the atrium was very good.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Friendly enough but found bar waitstaff less attentive than we have seen on other cruises. Never really got to know our cabin staff

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Generally happy with the ship and cleanliness.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was fine except that, as is true on most ships, very small. The bed was two twins joined together so there was a high point in the middle. Not the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in.

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

Great City and cruise terminal a shot cab ride from most everything. For those who drive, parking is very convenient and traffic flows well

Agree, hated the art. So out of place. Loved everything else.

Agree about the defaced "art!" Distasteful to us...but loved the cruise!

another small complaint about the Casino smoking..... it's allowed only for "players" but no one enforced the people lounging around on the window seats or talking at slots without playing.
