Review summary

The best thing about this cruise was the food.  Everything I ate was delicious and even the buffet food was tasty and fresh.  I can't say much more on the positive side.  I was very disappointed with the $7.95 room service charge.  I think that one small pool for the entire ship is a huge problem.  The crowds at and in the pool were overwhelming.  With the exception of a very few, the staff looked miserable and like they were being put out.  Smiles were very hard to come by with the crew!  Sea days were excruciating!  There was not a lounge chair to be found on the entire ship and we ended up spending most of the day in our stateroom (thank goodness for our balcony cabin)!  We went on this cruise because of the convenience of the departure port but will never do it again.  It's worth the cost of a flight to not travel on the Dawn again.

The cabin was way too small. We were constantly squeezing by each other and stepping over things. There was only one outlet to charge our phones, ipads, kindles.

Ship tip

If you don't like crowds then this is not the ship for you. If you can afford it, stay in a suite category stateroom--this will give you the same space as other cruise line balcony staterooms.

if towels are there, just move them . it was very hot Wednesday on the deck... make sure you have flip flops! I disagree about the staff... I found the majority very friendly and accommodating, except for the blue lagoon restaurant.

I agree. we were out at the pool at 8am for the day to get seats. people were rude saving chairs for ghost people. on day one a women held 9 chairs fot friends getting on the boat...they weren't even o the ship yet!!!

that is why I'll remove.your hat or towel. I'm not playing that get up at 6 am to save seats and go back to bed crap. this isn't middle school where we save seats.for our friends.

we were on the 7/31 trip-git in yesterday. We did the dining package (included with balcony room or higher) and every meal was excellent. we ate at the Buffett for breakfast and lunch most days because we wanted to get to the pool. We had chairs every day pool side..but you had to get there super early. problem is so many people throw a towel or hat or something on a row of chairs and save them for their friends or family. hours would go by with many chairs empty of people with just stuff on them.

Ok good. I know a lot of schools start around the time we are going. I hate little kids in the hot tubs. I'm a bitch and will say something to the parents

That late in the season the boat will not be as crowded. I cruised from Boston to Bermuda in August 2010 and July 2013 and the August trip was MUCH better. The July trip was packed with young people but by August they are back in college, etc. you will have a great time!!
