Review summary

Even though the ship is going in for refurbishing in May, the ship is not run down or lacking. Food was wonderful, staff is friendly and efficient as ever. Entertainment was not as good as other ships; however, the cruise director was the best I've had in my nine cruises. Lots of little kids on this ship due to the T-Rex kids center. Me, husband and two teens (17 and 16) had a wonderful cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Buffet food was delicious and offered lots of options. Never felt crowded in the buffet. Went to Salsa's one night and it was good, but was a little disappointed when we went to the buffet later that night for coffee and found the same thing we paid for at Salsa on the buffet menu. We could have saved ourselves $30.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Second City troup not as good as on other ships; comedian was good at one show, but spotty at two others; Rock and Blues jam session was excellent. Wish the movie cinema would show movies continuously and have a larger selection. Also, the movies that were shown were on the NCL Pearl in February 2010.

Children's Programs

My boys (17 and 16) hung out with the TeenClub all week and liked every activity. Said the staff was fun and nice.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always helpful and smiling.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship still in good condition and was perfectly fine for our needs. Minor complaint -- no outdoor dining like on the NCL Pearl. Large adult pool area and liked the "bleacher style" sunbathing area.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Had a mini-suite (11626). Boys said sofa bed was hard, so staff brought in extra padding. Said it was little better, but still felt like a sofa bed.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Booked the ATV Jungle and Beach tour through the ship. Guides were informational and fun. Dropped us off at the beach for swimming and snorkeling before heading back to the ship. Beach was very rocky, so we didn't go in the water. Would recommend and do again. Felt safe in Cozumel despite the warnings about Mexico.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Grand Cayman is clean, safe, friendly and is a place we will be going back to. Booked a private jet ski tour through Fat Fish Adventures. $125 per person for four hours of jet skiing, snorkeling and a trip to Sting Ray City. Well worth the money.

Pros: Food, staff

Cons: Entertainment was not as good as other cruises; too many
